Netflix has dropped a new trailer for part 2 of Wednesday season 2, and it’s already got fans buzzing about Jenna Ortega’s fate after that big cliffhanger in part 1. The first half of the season ended with Wednesday in serious danger, and now the preview teases even more chaos.

The trailer kicks off with Wednesday waking up in a hospital bed. She’s hooked up to machines, and a nurse is standing in the corner. But when the nurse turns around, it’s actually Principal Larissa Weems, played by Gwendoline Christie. Fans will remember that Weems died in season 1, so her sudden appearance is a shock. “Rise and shine, sleepyhead!” Weems says.

Wednesday replies, “What part of hell is this?” Weems answers, “This isn’t hell, Ms. Addams. But, I understand the confusion.”

When Wednesday asks why she’s there, Weems says, “Because I am your new spirit guide. Surprise!”

From there, the preview shows Wednesday trying to stop Tyler, played by Hunter Doohan, from carrying out a murderous plan. Weems keeps giving her advice, though no one else can see her. There’s also a quick scene of Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and Gomez Addams (Luis Guzmán) dancing together. Another clip shows Wednesday firing a shotgun with Grandmama Hester Frump, played by Joanna Lumley.

Morticia warns her daughter, “Every family has dark chapters.” Later, Weems tells Wednesday, “If you don’t hurry, you’ll have nothing left to save.”

Near the end of the trailer, fans can hear Lady Gaga’s voice saying, “Beware. There will be a price to pay.” Her character doesn’t appear in the footage, but according to Entertainment Weekly, Gaga is playing Rosaline Rotwood. Netflix had said she was a teacher at Nevermore Academy, though Ortega told Entertainment Tonight that’s not true.

Co-creator Alfred Gough explained to EW that they wanted to make season 2 feel different. “We didn’t want to repeat ourselves, as second seasons are tricky things with a lot of shows, and we wanted to change up the mystery storytelling. So the idea is that at the end of episode 4, literally all hell breaks loose. It propels you forward, but I don’t think you quite know where it’s going.”

Ortega also said it’s the first time in the season where Wednesday is completely out of her depth, especially after the death of Christina Ricci’s character Thornhill in the part 1 finale.

Gaga will also release a new song for the show called Dead Dance, with a music video directed by Tim Burton. She joined the cast after fans went viral on TikTok for editing her 2011 track Bloody Mary over Wednesday’s dance scene from season 1, which made the song popular again years after its release.

Part 2 of Wednesday season 2 hits Netflix on September 3.
