Taylor Swift’s music has found its way into the White House’s social media, and the choice has raised some eyebrows.

Despite President Donald Trump’s long-standing feud with the pop star, his official White House TikTok account recently posted a video set to Swift’s hit song “The Fate of Ophelia.”

The clip uses several of Swift’s lyrics alongside images of Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and First Lady Melania Trump.

At one point, as Swift sings, “Don’t care where the hell you been,” the line appears over Trump’s 2023 mug shot from when he was charged for trying to overturn the 2020 election.

Then, when the lyric “’Cause now you’re mine” plays, the video cuts to a picture of Trump hugging an American flag. It ends with an image of him holding McDonald’s fries next to a changed lyric that reads, “The fate of America.”

When Variety reached out for comment, a White House spokesperson replied, “We made this video because we knew fake news media brands like Variety would breathlessly amplify them. Congrats, you got played.”

The decision to use a Taylor Swift song comes as a surprise, considering Trump’s repeated attacks on the singer.

Over the years, he’s publicly criticized her for supporting Democratic candidates and has even posted about her on his social media platform Truth Social. In 2024, after Swift endorsed Kamala Harris for president, Trump wrote, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT.”

It’s unclear whether the White House got official permission to use Swift’s music or if the video was meant to be serious or satirical. Still, the post has quickly drawn attention from both Swift’s fans and political watchers online.
