The novel stages the moment in a similar way. Cartwright and Baker are monitoring Hobden’s house when a violent scuffle results in Moody accidentally shooting Baker. River rushes her to the hospital, and later discovers that all records of her have been wiped from existence.
That absence of proof kept her fate open for years. Her body was never shown to viewers and her records were erased, which left her fate as one of the show’s biggest loose ends. In the first season finale, Roddy tells River that nobody named Sidonie Baker ever existed in MI5’s database, which suggests she might still be alive.
Olivia Cooke’s Return to ‘Slow Horses’
The payoff took a long time to arrive. Sid made her return five seasons after she was presumed dead. In the second episode of the sixth season, River goes looking for Frank and instead finds Sid waiting for him.
