‘Wicked: For Good’ Outscores ‘Superman’ and ‘Fantastic Four’ in Major Pre-Release Metric
Universal Pictures is having no trouble turning its Broadway hit into another big-screen success.
The studio’s upcoming film Wicked: For Good, directed by Jon M. Chu, just became Fandango’s best first-day ticket pre-seller of 2025.
The news comes straight from Fandango, which revealed that the movie has already passed Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle, Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, and Superman in early ticket sales.
The movie opens on November 21 and is already breaking records. Wicked: For Good has earned a spot among Fandango’s top ten all-time first-day ticket pre-sellers.
It now sits next to box office giants like Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour. It’s also officially the best PG-rated first-day ticket pre-seller ever on Fandango, beating Frozen, The Lion King, and K-Pop Demon Hunters: Sing-Along Event.
The success of this new chapter isn’t too surprising. The first film, Wicked, came out the weekend before Thanksgiving last year and made history with a $112.5 million opening, the biggest ever for a movie based on a Broadway musical.

It went on to earn $473.2 million in the U.S. and $756.4 million worldwide. The movie also scored ten Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and a Supporting Actress nod for Ariana Grande. It took home two Oscars, for Costume Design and Production Design.
Jerramy Hainline, Fandango’s Executive Vice President, shared his thoughts on the strong ticket sales. “With last year’s Wicked breaking records and captivating audiences around the world, it is no surprise that fans are racing to get their tickets to Wicked: For Good,” he said.
“The first film became a true cultural phenomenon bringing new generations into the world of Wicked, and it’s clear that fans can’t wait to see how the story continues on the big screen.”
Fandango is also giving fans a deal: anyone who buys a ticket to Wicked: For Good can stream the first Wicked movie for $9 on Fandango at Home.
