Willem Dafoe is one of Hollywood’s most popular actors, with a career spanning over four decades, he has become one of the most respected figures in Hollywood, balancing roles in independent films, blockbuster franchises, and auteur-driven projects.

One of the projects that Dafoe took part in was also ‘Antichrist’ released in 2009. Antichrist is a horror art film directed by Lars von Trier, starring Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg. The story follows a married couple grieving the accidental death of their infant son. They retreat to a cabin in the woods, where the man begins to experience disturbing visions, and the woman exhibits violent, sexual, and sadomasochistic behavior.

While the movie wasn’t that memorable to American audiences, it managed to achieve international fame due to its shocking scenes, nudity, and depiction of violent sex. In one of the most notable scenes in the movie, the actor appears fully in the nude, but as it turns out his penis wasn’t actually his.

The director Lars von Trier revealed that a stunt penis was used due to Dafoe’s member being too long. According to the actor himself, his genitals would take too much away from the scene as seemingly the audience wouldn’t be able to focus on anything else. Way to be humble.

“It was a good decision because, if it was me, then that’s all that people would talk about. Obviously, Lars wants the characters to have genitals, but it would become a distraction.”

Von Trier however didn’t mind his words when describing the unusual situation:

“I wouldn’t let him treat her in any other way than with his d***; he has an enormous d***. We had to take those scenes out of the film. We had a stand-in for him because we had to take the scenes out with his own d***.”

Believe it or not, this is not the first time that his nudity caused troubles and distractions on set. In an interview shared by Mel Magazine, Willem Dafoe humorously recalled a moment from filming ‘The Last Temptation of Christ,’ where his large member caused issues during a naked scene as Jesus.

While hanging on the cross for a wide shot, his penis became visible. Director Martin Scorsese quickly instructed someone to fix the situation, but the Roman stuntmen on set refused to help. Eventually, a kind costume assistant climbed a ladder and tucked it back in, allowing the scene to continue.
