Marvel Studios is finally pulling back the curtain on Wonder Man, and the first real footage is giving fans something to talk about. In a new promo video released by Disney+, we get a much better look at the upcoming live-action series starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, an actor-turned-superhero with powers he can barely control.

The sneak peek shows Simon in action for the first time, and it’s clear he’s going through a lot. One clip shows him smashing a table, another has him screaming in pain, and there’s even a short moment where he talks with none other than Trevor Slattery, played once again by Sir Ben Kingsley.

Slattery first appeared in Iron Man 3 and returned in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Now he’s back, and it looks like he’ll play a part in Simon’s chaotic journey.

The show is being developed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the director behind Shang-Chi, and will be the next live-action Marvel show following Ironheart. Wonder Man is part of Marvel’s Phase 6 and will include eight episodes. According to Marvel, it falls under the “Marvel Spotlight” banner, meaning the story won’t rely heavily on the bigger MCU storyline.

Even without deep MCU connections, Wonder Man is already standing out. The new footage gives us our first glimpse of Simon’s powers, and they look intense. In the comics, Simon Williams is turned into a powerful being by Baron Zemo and ends up joining the Avengers. He’s got crazy strength, super senses, fast reflexes, and he can heal fast, making him one of the strongest members of the team.

But his powers also come with serious struggles. The footage hints at that, showing Simon in pain and clearly unsure how to handle what’s happening to him. What’s interesting is that the MCU version flips the comic origin, instead of becoming a hero first and then an actor, this Simon is already a Hollywood star when he starts getting powers.

Disney confirmed the show will drop in December 2025, and if this early look is any indication, Wonder Man could be one of the most emotional and action-packed Marvel series yet. With a cast that includes Abdul-Mateen II, Ben Kingsley, Ed Harris, and Demetrius Grosse, there’s a lot to be excited about.

This may only be the beginning for Simon Williams in the MCU, but he’s already making a dramatic entrance.
