DC Studios has chosen Ana Nogueira to write the script for its upcoming Wonder Woman reboot, Variety has confirmed. Nogueira, known for writing the new Supergirl movie, is also working on a live-action Teen Titans film for the studio.

According to Variety, Wonder Woman has become one of DC’s top priorities. On July 16, the outlet reported that DC is fast-tracking the movie. James Gunn, co-head of DC Studios, told Entertainment Weekly back in June that the film “is being written right now.”

Nogueira’s career actually began in front of the camera. She acted in shows like The Michael J. Fox Show, The Vampire Diaries, and most recently, the crime drama Hightown. Her work on Supergirl will mark her first produced screenplay.

That film, directed by Craig Gillespie and starring Milly Alcock, is set to release on June 26, 2026. It’s based on the comic Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King.

Wonder Woman’s first big screen appearance came in 2017, when Gal Gadot played the superhero in Patty Jenkins’ film.

That movie was a massive hit, earning $822 million worldwide and proving that audiences were excited to see a female-led superhero film. Gadot returned for Wonder Woman 1984, which released during the pandemic in 2020, and appeared again as the character in Justice League, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, and The Flash.

Things changed when James Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC Studios. They decided to reboot the entire DC Universe. It started with the animated Creature Commandos series and continued with the Superman movie, which opened on July 11 and has already made over $400 million at the global box office. Milly Alcock, the new Supergirl, even made a quick appearance at the end of the Superman film.

DC isn’t stopping with just a Wonder Woman movie. The studio is also working on a TV show called Paradise Lost, which will focus on Themyscira, Wonder Woman’s home. But Gunn admitted that progress on the series has been “slow moving.”

The news about Ana Nogueira writing the new Wonder Woman film was first reported by TheWrap.
