Wu Assassins Season 2: Release Date, Trailer, Plot, Cast & More

One of the gems that those who love to explore different shows on Netflix is Wu Assassins, a series that does have its niche following. Those who love a bit of action mixed with Asian culture will love Wu Assassins, especially considering that it did have a pretty good first season. That said, if you love Wu Assassins, you might be excited about the next season. So, when will Wu Assassins season 2 get released?
As of now, nothing is certain about the season 2 release date of Wu Assassins because it is yet to be renewed. However, the good news is that Wu Assassins will have a standalone film called Fistful of Vengeance, which stars the same characters and is most likely going to continue the story from season 1.
While there hasn’t been anything revealed about the second season of Wu Assassins, the thing that should excite fans is that this show hasn’t been dropped yet, considering that it is getting its own standalone film. That means that the possibility of a second season happening is very high, especially when you consider the critical reception that season 1 received.
Wu Assassins Season 2 Release Date
One of the most underrated Netflix series is Wu Assassins, which has a good niche following. Those who love to explore different shows that come from different countries and are all about different stories will be able to appreciate Wu Assassins. And the best thing about this series is that it combines martial arts, crime drama, and magic all in one good show.
As successful as season 1 of Wu Assassins may have been when you consider its critical reception, one of the things you need to know is that fans of the show have been waiting for a second season for a very long time. The first season of the show came out in the middle of 2019, and it hasn’t gotten a second season yet.
So, is Wu Assassins season 2 coming? And if yes, when is the release date of Wu Assassins season 2?
As of this writing, there is no confirmation as to whether or not Wu Assassins season 2 will come. That’s because there hasn’t been anything about the renewal of the series. As such, there is nothing that we can say about whether or not season 2 will come and when it will get released. So, if you are expecting for season 2 to come soon, you would have to wait some more because there are no announcements regarding its renewal or its release date.
But the good news is that there is no announcement regarding its cancellation as well. A lot of Netflix shows tend to get an early cancellation announcement shortly after the first season, and that hasn’t happened with Wu Assassins despite the fact that season 1 was released back in 2019.
Another piece of information that should get fans excited is that there is going to be a standalone Wu Assassins film entitled Fistful of Vengeance. It has finished filming in April 2021 in Thailand and is set to make a release in February of 2022.
The reason why fans should get excited about this is that a standalone film means that neither Netflix nor the showrunners have given up on Wu Assassins, considering that it is getting a standalone film that quite possibly continues the storyline.
In that sense, fans should be delighted because the possibility of a second season becoming a reality is quite high, especially because the showrunners are going to be releasing a standalone movie. And if the standalone movie becomes successful, there is a good chance that Netflix will end up picking Wu Assassins up for a second season or will allow the showrunners to come up with more standalone films.
Wu Assassins Season 2 Trailer
Again, there is nothing set in stone regarding season 2 of Wu Assassins. But the good news is that Wu Assassins: Fistful of Vengeance is going to happen and is set to release in February of 2022.
While we don’t have a trailer for Wu Assassins season 2, we do have a trailer for Fistful of Vengeance.
Wu Assassins Season 2 Plot
Even though we don’t have a release date for season 2 of Wu Assassins, we do have some ideas of what it will be about. However, there is also a good chance that the second season will rely heavily on the events of Fistful of Vengeance, which is probably going to continue the story that we left off from season 1.
Lewis Tan, one of the characters on the show, revealed that the backstory of the series has already been set in stone. That means that moving forward, Wu Assassins will probably no longer explore the backstory and will simply move on with the storyline.
The fact that the series will no longer be exploring the backstory, which they did heavily in season 1 to sell the premise of the show, means that Wu Assassins can focus more on the action instead of the talking. This is good news for fans of Wu Assassins, especially if you value the show’s action scenes more than its story.
In season 1, we did see at the very end that Ying Ying told Kai that the world still needs a Wu Assassin. This means that there is a good possibility that we will be seeing more of the same premise if season 2 will indeed arrive. But, of course, the second season will most likely introduce new conflicts and a new issue that the cast now has to set their sights on.
Wu Assassins Season 2 Cast
It is highly likely that Wu Assassins season 2 will still feature the same characters. This means that Iko Uwais will continue his story in season 2 as Kai Jin, the Wu Assassin. Of course, it can also be possible that we will be seeing Ying Ying, who is played by Celia Au, reprising her role as Kai’s mentor. Then there are the other characters such as Lewis Tan as Lu Xin Lee and Li Jun Li as Jenny Wah returning for a second season.
However, it is also quite possible that new faces will be added, especially when you consider that the backstory portion of Wu Assassins has already been set in stone and that the series will continue to move forward. This means that, in season 2, we might be seeing new characters getting introduced as either allies or potential enemies.
So, if Wu Assassins keeps on moving forward with its storyline, it has to introduce new characters that can shake the entire series up and make the next season more entertaining and engaging than the first season.
Where Can You Watch Wu Assassins Season 2?
The streaming site that carries Wu Assassins is Netflix. That means that it is quite possible that season 2 of Wu Assassins will also be released by Netflix. Of course, we also know that Fistful of Vengeance is also going to be streamed on Netflix. As such, expect for season 2 to be shown exclusively on Netflix as well.
There are speculations regarding how Wu Assassins season 2 will be released. There are some that are pointing to the possibility of it being released in two parts, considering that this isn’t something new. Remember the fact that the immensely popular show Money Heist was also released in two parts. As such, it could be possible that Wu Assassins will be following the same route.
Then again, nothing is set in stone because we know for a fact that we can neither confirm nor deny the possibility of a second season or even the chances of us seeing season 2 in Netflix before the streaming service or the showrunners confirm whether or not season 2 is indeed happening.
That said, the best thing to do right now is to wait for Fistful of Vengeance because there is a really good chance that the future of Wu Assassins depends almost entirely on the success of this standalone film. If Netflix sees the potential of a second season based on the possible success of the film, then there is a good chance that we are going to see season 2 premiering on Netflix.
Again, nothing is set in stone regarding where we will be seeing season 2 of Wu Assassins. But Fistful of Vengeance will be premiering on Netflix, and that is something that fans of the series are excited about.
Will There Be Wu Assassins Season 3?
Of course, we can neither confirm nor deny the possibility of Wu Assassins season 3 happening because season 2 has yet to be announced. It would be absurd to look at the possibility of a third season when the second season hasn’t been confirmed. So, as of now, it is safe to say that season 3 won’t be coming anytime soon because season 2 is still the next one on the slate, if ever it indeed happens.
