Allan Cumming has teased the return of one of the most beloved X-Men characters in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, he was asked if Halle Berry will appear as Ororo Munroe, also known as Storm.

“Well. Maybe she does [show up],” Cumming said. “Honestly, I’m the last person to ask.” When the host pointed out that he was actually the first person to ask, given his history of leaking details, Cumming joked, “No, I suppose I am…I got into trouble for talking about it earlier on. And I’ve been trying to sort of muddy the waters ever since.”

Cumming previously shared that much of his work on the film was done alone. “I did the entire film in isolation. Lots of green screen, face replacement. They even gave characters fake names. I don’t know who I was acting with half the time,” he laughed. He added humorously, “I broke the internet by mentioning something once, but honestly, I might have got it wrong.”

The actor first played Nightcrawler years ago and had often said he was hesitant to return due to the long makeup and costume process. Thanks to modern effects, the process is now faster and less demanding, making his comeback much easier.

Marvel confirmed Cumming’s return during a massive five-hour live stream that introduced 27 cast members for the crossover. Alongside him, fans will see newcomers like Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Many familiar X-Men actors, including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, and Rebecca Romijn, are reprising their roles, making this one of Marvel’s largest crossover events.

Cumming’s history of spilling secrets has kept fans entertained. While guest hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live!, he asked the cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps how they avoid spoilers. Pascal, who plays Mister Fantastic, joked, “It’s funny that you should ask. The biggest leak that we’ve had comes from our host.” Earlier this year, Cumming accidentally revealed a fight between Nightcrawler and Mister Fantastic, which led to a call from his publicist. “You know the wrath of your publicist is, not the wrath you want to have,” he admitted.

Avengers: Doomsday is directed by the Russo brothers, with a script from Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely. The movie will bring together the Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, New Avengers, and Wakandans to face Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. It is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on December 18, 2026, and will be followed by Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027.
