A few months ago, most moviegoers had never heard of Maya Boyd. That changed quickly when Marvel Studios revealed the Broadway performer as its new Storm, and Hollywood and the fashion world have been paying attention ever since.

Paris Fashion Week, which ran from September 28 to October 6, gave the rising star a chance to step into a new spotlight. Louis Vuitton closed out the week with one of its starriest front rows, and Boyd was among the guests.

On Tuesday, October 6, the 23-year-old attended the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2027 show at the Cour Carrée of the Louvre. New photos from the evening have been circulating online, with Marvel fans and fashion followers praising her polished look.

Boyd chose a clean, tailored outfit for the show. She wore a black double-breasted jacket with gold buttons and a matching black mini skirt. She added a classic Louis Vuitton touch with a monogram bag finished with a leather tag. Her voluminous natural curls and wide smile kept the look warm rather than severe.

The understated styling suited a collection built around lightness and simplicity. It also helped her stand out among Hollywood’s biggest names. Boyd was part of a packed guest list that included Zendaya, Emma Stone, BLACKPINK’s Lisa and Sophie Turner.

Jennifer Connelly, Keri Russell, Odessa Young and Thuso Mbedu were also among the guests. For someone so new to Hollywood, holding her own in that company says a lot about how quickly the fashion world has embraced her.

Boyd’s rise has been fast. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed her as Ororo Munroe at Disney’s D23 event in Anaheim, California, on August 14. She joins a cast led by Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, with Adam Driver as the villain. Jake Schreier is directing the reboot, which is set to open on May 5, 2028.

The role will be Boyd’s feature film debut. She is the third actress to play Storm in a major ‘X-Men’ film series, following Halle Berry and Alexandra Shipp. Her casting was widely celebrated online, with many fans saying she brings the character closer to her comic book depiction.

Boyd kept her own response simple, writing on Instagram that it was an honor to be Storm. Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Boyd studied musical theatre at the University of Michigan. She booked Broadway before finishing school.

She made her debut in 2023 in the Tony-winning revival of ‘Merrily We Roll Along’, playing Mimi. She then took the title role of Juliet in ‘& Juliet’ from April 2024 to June 2025. Most recently, she played Molly Cunningham in the Broadway revival of August Wilson’s ‘Joe Turner’s Come and Gone’, directed by Debbie Allen.

Before Broadway, she also built a large following on TikTok with comedy sketches, family videos, and singing performances. Some observers have pointed out that Marvel has been turning to stage-trained actors for major roles.

Boyd’s casting follows the studio’s choice of David Jonsson as Black Panther. With the ‘X-Men’ release still a couple of years away, Boyd’s public profile is only starting to grow. If her Paris debut is any sign, she’s already comfortable in the spotlight.
