‘You Won’t Be Alone’: New Trailer for Gory Folk Horror Released

You Won’t Be Alone follows a young girl who is kidnapped and then transformed into a witch by an ancient spirit in an isolated mountain village in 19th century Macedonia. After the first official trailer, Focus Features has just released a new one, shedding lights on more story details. The movie is written and directed Goran Stolevski and it stars Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire).

The new trailer puts focus on a different women who plays the role of the witch Nevena. Rapace and Alice Englert play the same character as the witch uses the corpses of the dead so she can live as a human and explore all the pleasures and joys of human life. The trailer announces the folk horror motives, dark and murky atmosphere and some amazing performances. You Won’t Be Alone got premiered in 2022’s Sundance Film Festival and it has received some impressive reviews.

It was said that the movie is “a hauntingly humanistic fable about ancient witches”, with The Aisle Seat even calling it “the best folk horror film since The Witch”. The movie is also said to explore female identity and sexual desire, paying tribute to all those legends of witches and their inability to simply exist in accordance to their desires and who they are.

Alongside Rapace,You Won’t Be Alone also features Alice Englert, Sara Klimoska, Anamaria Marinca Carloto Cotta and Félix Maritaud. This movie is the first feature of the director and it will hit theaters on April 1. Check out the new trailer below:
