The film tells a strange and unsettling story. One night, 17 children from the same classroom all wake up in the middle of the night, leave their homes, and vanish into the dark without explanation. Only one student, Alex Lilly, doesn’t disappear.

His teacher, Justine Gandy, along with the rest of the town, is left wondering what happened and why. The mystery only deepens as the search for answers begins.

Weapons features a strong cast, including Josh Brolin as Archer Graff, the father of one of the missing kids, and Julia Garner as Justine, the teacher who becomes deeply involved in uncovering the truth.

Cary Christopher plays Alex Lilly, the only child who remains. Alden Ehrenreich appears as Paul Morgan, a police officer with a complicated history with Justine. Other cast members include Austin Abrams, Benedict Wong, Amy Madigan, June Diane Raphael, and Toby Huss.

Critics have been raving about the movie. Many have called it one of the most creative and unpredictable horror films in years. They’ve noted how the film blends mystery with genuine fear and manages to surprise the audience at every turn. Reviewers also say it doesn’t shy away from intense moments, including at least one scene that is quite gory. Despite that, the film is praised for being more than just shock value, it’s about characters, storytelling, and atmosphere.

Some have said Weapons is disturbing and deeply unsettling, but they mean it as a compliment. The movie keeps viewers uncomfortable yet fully engaged for its entire two-hour runtime. The pacing, they say, is deliberate and gripping, pulling the audience deeper into its strange world as the mystery unfolds.

Cregger, who made his name with the 2022 horror hit Barbarian, has now cemented his place as a major force in the genre. Critics agree that his direction shows a clear vision and a love for telling stories that don’t play by the usual horror rules. Many believe this film proves he can stand alongside some of the most original voices in modern horror.

With its upcoming release, audiences will soon get the chance to see what all the hype is about. If early reviews are anything to go by, Weapons could end up being remembered not just as one of the best horror films of the decade, but as one of the most memorable in recent years.
