Zack Snyder Shares First-Ever Photo of Ben Affleck in the Batsuit from ‘Batman v Superman’
Zack Snyder is giving fans a closer look at his time in the DC universe. Since joining Instagram a few months ago, the filmmaker has been sharing behind-the-scenes photos from his movies, and his latest post quickly caught attention.
Snyder posted a Polaroid showing Ben Affleck wearing the Batsuit for the first time while preparing for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Along with the photo, Snyder shared a short caption that read, “First time in the suit. Everything I hoped it would be.” The image marks a special moment for fans who remember when Affleck first stepped into the role of Gotham’s protector.

Affleck made his debut as Batman in Batman v Superman before making a brief appearance in Suicide Squad and later starring in Justice League in 2017. While his performance was praised by many fans, the production behind Justice League was not easy. S
nyder left the project following the death of his daughter, and Joss Whedon stepped in to finish the movie. Reports later mentioned creative differences and tension during filming.
In interviews, Affleck described working on Justice League as a tough time in his career. Around that period, he was also dealing with personal challenges, including his struggle with addiction. Critics noticed the strain, with Todd McCarthy of The Hollywood Reporter writing that Affleck “looked like he’d rather be almost anywhere else but here.”
After Justice League, Affleck decided to step away from directing and starring in The Batman. He later said he “couldn’t crack it” and didn’t feel the same creative drive for the story anymore. Around that same time, he focused on recovery following a relapse in 2017.
Snyder’s new Instagram post feels like a small but meaningful throwback to when Affleck first put on the cape and cowl. It reminds fans of the excitement surrounding his version of Batman and the lasting impact he made, even through the ups and downs.
Snyder’s post has become a favorite among fans, many of whom are celebrating Affleck’s take on the Dark Knight all over again.
