Zack Snyder has given fans another reason to celebrate this week by sharing a new black-and-white photo of Henry Cavill as Superman.

The image, taken from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, was posted on the director’s Instagram with the caption, “Henry Cavill is Superman. From BvS shot with my monochrome 50mm Noctilux. 3 weeks on Instagram thanks to everyone.”

The post immediately caught fire among fans, especially those still hoping to see the return of Snyder’s version of the DC universe. For many, the photo was a nostalgic reminder of Cavill’s time as the iconic superhero, and a subtle message from Snyder himself that, in his mind, Cavill remains the definitive Man of Steel.

The director, who launched his Instagram account only recently, has been using it to share behind-the-scenes photos from his films, along with glimpses of his long-awaited projects.

His next film, The Last Photograph, marks a major shift from his usual large-scale comic book and action-driven stories. The project, which Snyder has wanted to make for over two decades, is expected to be a much more grounded and emotional story, different from his past blockbusters like Man of Steel, Watchmen, and 300.

While Snyder is moving on to new creative ventures, many fans of the “SnyderVerse” continue to push for his return to DC. Each post featuring Cavill or his past DC work tends to reignite those conversations online.

Snyder’s post feels like both a thank-you to his fans and a quiet nod to the legacy he built with Cavill’s Superman.
