The cinematic spotlight shifted to Las Vegas this Tuesday as Zendaya graced the red carpet at CinemaCon, channeling the aesthetic of Arrakis for a high-profile industry presentation. Held at The Dolby Colosseum within Caesars Palace, the event served as an early showcase for the highly anticipated Dune: Part Three.

The 29-year-old actress appeared alongside director Denis Villeneuve and co-stars Timothée Chalamet and Jason Momoa to build momentum for the upcoming sci-fi epic. While the film is not scheduled for a theatrical debut until December 18, this appearance marked an unofficial start to a lengthy promotional journey.

Fans have been eager for updates since the first teaser arrived in March, which hinted at a significant 17-year jump in the narrative timeline. The story is adapted from Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah, depicting a universe where Paul Atreides has reigned as Emperor for over a decade.

In this next chapter, the protagonist finds himself trapped by the very religious fervor he ignited among the Fremen, struggling to control a jihad that has swept across the cosmos. Zendaya’s character, Chani, remains a central figure in this evolving tragedy as the political and spiritual consequences of Paul’s rise come to a head.

Jason Momoa was also pulling double duty at the convention, balancing his return to the sands of Dune with promotions for his role as Lobo in the upcoming Supergirl movie. Outside of the desert, Zendaya has remained one of the most prolific figures in Hollywood.

She recently completed filming on the psychological thriller The Drama, directed by Kristoffer Borgli and co-starring Robert Pattinson. Additionally, she has appeared in the third season of Euphoria.

The Dune franchise continues to be a cornerstone of modern cinema, with Villeneuve aiming to conclude his trilogy by leaning into the darker, more cautionary themes of Herbert’s second novel.

The director has teased that the scale of this finale will dwarf the previous installments, utilizing new filming techniques to capture the vastness of the empire. With the core cast returning and a plot that challenges the very idea of a hero’s journey, the December release is already tracking to be the biggest cinematic event of the year.
