‘Zootopia 2’ Poised to Break a Six-Year Box Office Record Previously Held by ‘Avengers: Endgame’
Zootopia 2 is turning into a massive theatrical hit, especially in China, where the film is delivering one of the strongest opening weekends ever for a Hollywood release. Industry tracker Luiz Fernando reported that the sequel is outperforming several major franchises, including some of the biggest titles from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The movie crossed the $100 million mark worldwide within just two days, showing strong momentum even before its first weekend wrapped.
Current projections suggest that the film could reach a global opening above $250 million, putting it in rare company for animated releases. Early numbers also indicate that the movie may set a new record for the largest single-day earnings for a Hollywood film anywhere in the world, a milestone previously held by Avengers: Endgame.

In China, the box office growth has been especially impressive. Reports say that the film earned $87.3 million on Saturday across more than 350,000 screenings. That pushed its three-day total in the country to around $94 million. Analysts expect the movie to end Saturday with a figure between $115 million and $130 million.
Ticket sales have been strong both in pre-sales and walk-up purchases. Around 40 percent of tickets were sold in advance, while the rest were bought on the spot, showing strong interest from general moviegoers. If the film’s pace continues, Zootopia 2 could surpass Endgame’s single-day record of $107.2 million in China and its $97.5 million opening day in North America.
With this early success, Zootopia 2 is shaping up to be one of the biggest global releases of the year and a significant breakthrough for Disney’s animated films in the post-pandemic market.
