Few actors balance brooding intensity and boyish charm quite like Tom Hiddleston, and Tom Hiddleston’s Men’s Health cover shows a side of him fans don’t often get to see. The British star has spent recent years juggling physically demanding projects, from spy thrillers to a Mount Everest biopic.

He has also been reflecting more openly on his personal growth. In a recent interview with British GQ, the ‘Loki’ star looked back on being a people pleaser in his 20s and described getting himself twisted in knots, both personally and professionally, before learning to find joy in simplicity.

Now, Hiddleston is fronting the October issue of Men’s Health UK. The cover shows him on a running track in a black tank top, with lines teasing a story about power, performance and finding his flow.

Inside, the actor explores the mindset and discipline behind his work, and how he approaches both physical and creative challenges. The feature was written by Christopher Riley, with creative direction by Declan Fahy and fitness direction by Andrew Tracey.

The most touching part of the interview centers on his family. Hiddleston shares 2 children under the age of 4 with his fiancée, Zawe Ashton, though the couple has chosen not to share their names or genders. The 45-year-old told the magazine that he wants to be fit and strong for his children, explaining that he’s very aware they watch him and see him as a role model. He described being a father as a privilege and an honor that he approaches with humility.

His goals are wonderfully simple. Hiddleston said he wants to be able to carry his kids, run with them, play football, swim, chase them and throw them in the air, and he hopes to keep doing that for as long as he physically can. The shoot’s running theme wasn’t just for show. Hiddleston called running his baseline, describing it as his happy place and a form of meditation.

He said it’s where he does his best thinking and works through his problems. He also explained that he’s drawn to the honesty and discipline that running demands. One analysis of the feature noted that running has become far more than preparation for his physically demanding roles. Instead, it’s his main tool for mental clarity and staying present.

Hiddleston’s passion for movement goes back a long way. He told the magazine that he has always been moved by the thrill of physical performance, with some famous roles sticking with him since he was very young. That enthusiasm has served him well on screen. His trainer reportedly built a single workout featuring 30 different exercises, and he previously packed on muscle for ‘The Night Manager’.

The interview arrives during a hectic period for Hiddleston. He returned for ‘The Night Manager’ Season 2 and faced grueling conditions filming ‘Tenzing’, a biopic about Mount Everest. He’s also set to reprise his role as Loki in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. After tough shoots, he has said his perfect night at home with Ashton involves simply reading the paper and watching the US Open.

The cover lands at a time when Men’s Health UK, under Editor-in-Chief Claire Anderson, has increasingly focused on the link between physical fitness and mental wellbeing. Hiddleston’s candid comments about running and fatherhood make him a natural fit for that message.

Rather than chasing a picture-perfect physique, he’s framing fitness as a way to stay present for the people he loves most. That honest approach is exactly why this cover story is striking a chord.

What do you think of Tom Hiddleston’s reason for staying fit?
