‘Unsolved Mysteries’ Episode 6 Review: What Happened to Josh Guimond in 2002?
Here we are once again with a review of Unsolved Mysteries Volume 3. The popular TV series has found a new home on Netflix, and it brings some of the most mysterious cases from around the United States. The show focuses on a great variety of cases, and then it goes deep into every single clue that has been found or not found that might lead to solving them. There are a lot of mysteries happening out there, you just have to look, and you will find them easily.
In this opportunity, Episode 6 of Volume 3 focuses on a disappearance. You would say that there is nothing new about it, and you might be right. People disappear all the time. Most people get kidnapped or disappear of their own volition to try for a new, fresh start somewhere else. However, the case of Josh Guimond seems to be particularly interesting, as the young man disappeared one day from a party, and he was never seen again. Just like that, one person left all their life behind and there is no explanation.

The episode follows the normal structure that the rest of the series follows to the teeth. Still, it is great to see that the show is back to focusing on one single case. The previous episode tried to focus on several cases, and the result was not pretty. All the cases in that previous episode felt vague and incomplete. There was no reason to watch that episode, as there was no fundamental mystery to talk about. This is not the case with Josh’s disappearance.
The production team managed to get interviews from a lot of people; Josh’s parents, his closest friends, an ex-girlfriend, and many members of the investigation forces that have been digging around this case for decades. You can really feel the frustration the authorities have because it is clear that a lot of effort has been made to find Josh. And yet, there isn’t a clear clue anywhere that might lead us to even a clear hypothesis for what happened on the night of November, 9th, 2002.
The episode focuses a lot of time on developing Josh as a character, and it all seems pretty normal. Josh was a person that displayed a very clean persona, and his friends and family could support every instance that he was a great guy. Josh was someone you could be happy to call, a friend. So for everyone, it was very strange that during a normal party, Josh stood up from where he was, exited the room, and then wasn’t seen ever again. Just the fact that he left without saying goodbye to the people at the party is pointed out as being of character for him.

So, what happened to Josh? No one really knows. There is so very little evidence surrounding the case that it seems almost supernatural. Josh left, and he wasn’t seen ever again. His room was left exactly as he left it before going to the party. He never called anyone or was ever seen by anyone ever again. There are a lot of theories about what happened, as other similar cases were happening in the surrounding area, but while those cases found closure, Josh’s case never did.
Episode 6 of Volume 3 of Unsolved Mysteries presents a very intriguing case. One that shows that you never really know someone. There are always secrets and things that people will never tell anyone, things that are only for themselves. We can only hope that, wherever he is, Josh is at peace with himself and the things that happened surrounding his case.
