30 Best Pinhead Quotes from Every Hellraiser Movie
Pinhead is the principal antagonist from the Hellraiser horror series, both the books and the movies; he is, of course, best known for his presence in the series of ten horror films started with Hellraiser which is based on and inspired by the first book of the trilogy. He was created by British writer and filmmaker Clive Barker. His original name, in the first film in the saga, was “Lead Cenobite”, but soon the nickname Pinhead stood out when it was released and became the most popular way to refer to the character. Pinhead is a character that doesn’t talk much, but he has had some memorable quotes over the years.
This list is going to include a total of the best 30 Pinhead quotes you need to know from all of the Hellraiser movies. The quotes are taken from various contexts and situations, and we have decided to group them based on the movie they are from.
Hellraiser (1987)
1. “The box. You opened it. We came. Now you must come with us, taste our pleasures.”
Pinhead was not a man of many words, but he did know how to have fun and while that really was a form of twisted fun for others, we assume that he has, indeed, enjoyed all of the twisted moments he’s had.
2. “We’ll tear your soul apart!”
If it is not, this should definitely be a tagline for the character. Pinhead’s physical appearance was enough to completely shock us, but when we saw what the guy actually did, our souls really broke into millions of pieces.
3. “No tears, please. It’s a waste of good suffering.”
Well, if you know Pinhead’s mindset, and since you’re here, we assume you do, you know that this quote is actually one of the better examples of his demonic ideology and a good illustration of how he actually functioned.
Hellbound: Hellraiser II (1988)
1. “No more deals child, it is your flesh we want to experience, not your skill at bargaining.”
And while Pinhead did like a bargain as any other random demon with pins in their head, he had a limit and he was not stupid. You could bargain up to a point, but he would never fall for some cheap trick. You should know that in case you meet him.
2. “Go on… but trick us again child, and your suffering will be legendary even in Hell!”
Did we say that Pinhead had a limit? Yes, we did. But did we say what would happen if you actually got on his nerves? Well, we’d suggest avoiding that if possible, because we don’t really want to know what he could come up with in terms of torture.
3. “Time to play…”
Yeah, when your friend says this to you, it’s usually good. If Pinhead says this to you, your only hope is to hope that the game will end soon and that you will not suffer too much. Yay?
Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth (1992)
1. “There is a secret song at the center of the world, Joey, and its sound is like razors through flesh.”
Yaaay, a song… no? No? You don’t like songs? If Pinhead offers you to listen to a song, please don’t accept… or simply stick something in your ears to become deaf, because everything is better than this morbid soiree.
2. “There is a world out there, waiting to yield to us. So much flesh, so many different pleasures.”
Of course, Pinhead is a guy who likes to travel and explore new places. He also likes to take in all the places he visits, especially the people he meets. And he does that in the most literal sense possible. He might be a good travel buddy if you know he won’t kill you, but if he asks you to take a picture of him, kindly decline and run away.
3. “Human dreams… such fertile ground for the seeds of torment.”
Nightmares are simply dreams corrupted by Pinhead, it seems. This isn’t much of a relief, really, as knowing that this guy is haunting and corrupting your dreams will make you wish you had insomnia.
Hellraiser: Bloodline (1996)
1. “Glorious, is it not? The creatures who walk its surface, always looking to the light, never seeing the untold oceans of darkness beyond. There are more humans alive today than in all of its pitiful history. The Garden of Eden. A garden of flesh.”
Know the saying – one man’s trash is another man’s treasure? Well, Pinhead has a very similar one in this context – one man’s world is another man’s feeding ground. Pinhead saw Earth as a very beautiful place, a place he could use to eat.
2. “Two minutes. Two centuries. It all ticks by so quickly. You are so very like your ancestors, did you know that? I have a distinct sense of déjà vu. The same defiance, the same faithless hope in the light?”
For someone like Pinhead, time is more than relative. He has experienced the world and the people throughout history and has been able to observe how people don’t really change over time when faced with horrid fear. Who would’ve guessed?
3. “What you think of as pain is only a shadow. Pain has a face. Allow me to show it to you. Gentlemen, I… Am… Pain.”
Pinhead might seem like one of those door-to-door salesmen that will show you his product and trust us, he will give a brilliant demonstration of what he is selling. The issue is that what he is selling is something you definitely do not want to buy.
Hellraiser: Inferno (2000)
1. “It’s all a puzzle, isn’t it, Joseph? Like a game of chess, perhaps. The pieces move, apparently aimlessly, but always towards one single objective: to kill the king. But who is the king in this game, Joseph? That is the question you must ask yourself.”
The philosophy in the Hellraiser series was present, we cannot deny that and it was intriguing, as much as the fourth sequel to a solidly successful late 1980s horror flick can be. Still, from time to time, the main antagonist posed some good questions and this is an example.
2. “Ah, the eternal refrain of humanity. Pleading ignorance, begging for mercy. “Please, help me. I don’t understand.”
This is proof of Pinhead’s experience with humans and the fact that things rarely change with them. Still, he seems to keep deriving some pleasure out of it, regardless of the fact he’s seen it numerous times.
3. “Welcome… to Hell.”
Simplicity itself. A tagline for the whole series, this short sentence actually tells us what Hellraiser is all about. Sure, there’s a plot somewhere out there, but being in Hell is basically what it is all about.
Hellraiser: Hellseeker (2002)
1. “Which do you find more exhilarating, Trevor, pain or pleasure? Personally, I prefer pain.”
Of course, he’d prefer pain, we’ve been lining up quotes from five movies that prove exactly that. This is Pinhead’s twisted hedonism and something we have already mentioned and explained here in this article. The guy’s a sadist and it is not much you can do it.
2. “Welcome to the worst nightmare of all… reality!”
The writers actually did a good job with this one, although it isn’t completely original. This one is a good addition to Pinhead’s memorable quotes and it is a good addition to the list, despite not being the most original idea out there.
3. “All problems solved? Not so simple, I’m afraid.”
It’s never that easy with Pinhead. Never. The guy does actually a decent job in solving his problems in the most fun way for him, but he does a horrible job for others, who usually suffer in the process.
Hellraiser: Deader (2005)
1. “This world, it obviously disappoints you all. That is why you chose to begin this journey. And since you gave yourselves so willingly, allow me to finish what he started.”
Pinhead was a great psychologist. He knew the deepest yearnings of other people and he could easily enlighten people about what they wanted and needed. Sounds great, right? Yeah, he’ll solve your problems in the most gruesome way imaginable, so we would suggest avoiding him if possible.
2. “You should be very careful what you wish for. It just might come true!”
Oh, oh, we know this one! And even Pinhead said it! Wow, he’s such a cool guy… no, actually, from his perspective, this means the realization of one’s worst fears and all of the (un)imaginable horrors that you could come up with.
3. “Dreams are fleeting. Only nightmares last forever!”
This is similar to something that Freddy would say, but Pinhead is almost the same and we’ve already established that he is there to corrupt our dreams. Well, lucky us, eh?
Hellraiser: Hellworld (2005)
1. “You still don’t understand, do you? There is no way out for you, Chelsea. Oh, what wonders we have to show you.”
Well, there was a way out, and there always is, but you don’t expect the main villain to reveal it to you, right? Pinhead built his reputation meticulously and that is why people are so afraid of him and his world.
2. “Your son was quite the prodigy. He opened the gateway to Hell. But you never believed yourself, did you?”
This was a strange installment in the franchise, but it did build on a lot of the basics. Pinhead simply reflected on that and this quote is a perfect illustration of how the world of Hellraiser functions.
3. “Seeing is believing.”
Ummm… well, it is. In his case, it’s better to believe and never to see, than to see and then believe. We’d rather avoid seeing Pinhead and we’ll gladly believe that he exists, just don’t let him come near.
Hellraiser: Revelations (2011)
1. “We had all we desired. Our appetite was sated. And the eternity of suffering he would’ve experienced at our hands would’ve been more vengeance for you then you can possibly imagine. But your actions have denied us. Denied us that exquisite joy. Now there is a deficit of flesh. Debt is outstanding. And we seek payment.”
This is one of the better explanations of how the world of Hellraiser actually functions and what logic lies behind Pinhead’s inner workings and dealings. This actually explains all of it and now you actually know what kind of contract you’ve been pulled into against your will. Full disclosure at its best.
2. “What few moments that you have remaining will be spent in agony… that the indulgence of your own foolish vanity has cursed your wife to unparalleled terrors at the hands of others.”
The writers seemed to take particular interest in group violence here, as Pinhead suggests. Well, again, at least he has provided us with all the information we need, so there shouldn’t be any surprises, right? Right?
3. “Birth… is pain. Each nail… each new square of flesh… wrenches you further from the fleshy existence you knew before.”
What is life? Shakespeare would probably have something more poetic to answer than we do, but the poetry of Pinhead’s morbid worldview is brilliantly represented in this quote from the movie and it explains both the psychology behind his actions, as well as the philosophy behind them.
Hellraiser: Judgment (2018)
1. “Suffer? Me? How dare you use such a word. You know nothing of suffering. I exist only to share its meaning. Sin and suffering are my dominions. Perhaps it’s time you learned a little of the matters you seek to manage.”
Well, people usually do get angry when someone else tries to tell them how to do their job. And with Pinhead, who has eons of experience, of course, he’d get quite angry with anyone trying to tell him how to do his job.
2. “Obsolete. Irrelevant in an age when desire has become amplified but where lust can be sated electronically. We need something more than just a wooden box.”
One cannot be good with what he does unless he keeps up with the newest fads and trends. Pinhead is great in that aspect and he definitely does keep up with the latest trends, as this quote illustrates perfectly. Good for him. Five stars!
3. “Look at me. I’m all you know. Forged in agony and pain. I welcome an eternity of anguish.”
Well, he did not lie – he does like anguish and he’s been living in anguish ever since the dawn of his existence. Pinhead seems to be an honest guy and this is yet another example of how he fully discloses everything you need to know.
