Unnamed Memory
Unnamed Memory was initially introduced to the fiction-fanatic community in the form of a fantasy light novel series written by Kuji Furumiya way back in 2008, after which it was published on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website back in September 2012. Kadokawa published the original light novel series with illustrations by Chibi under the Dengeki no Shin Bungei imprint, after which it was acquired by ASCII Media Works.

The entire storyline follows a young man named Oscar, who is the crown prince of the powerful kingdom of Farsas. However, he was cursed as a young boy to never sire an heir, as all the women that he wished to marry once he matured ended up dying before he could pursue a family.
He seeks the help of the most powerful Azure witch on the continent, named Tinasha, in the hope that she can find a way to break to curse or at least combat it, after which he theorizes he could simply marry her instead. But, as time progresses, her lifetimes of magic and secrets begin coming to light – which leaves plenty of room for interesting twists and turns throughout the storyline.
The light novel series had a total of 6 consecutive volumes, initially running from January 2019 to April 2021 before seeing its final volume. The Unnamed Memory storyline later received a serialized manga adaptation within the Monthly Dengeki Daioh magazine back in September 2020 under ASCII Media Works – accompanied by some incredible illustrations by Naoki Koshimizu.

The plot of the Unnamed Memory anime series follows the exact same plot and premise described in the light novel and the serialized manga series. The entire plot of Unnamed Memory has been loosely described by Yen Press, who has licensed both the light novel and the manga in English, detailed as follows:
“My wish as champion is for you to descend the tower and be my wife.” Climbing a deadly tower, Oscar seeks the power of its master, the Witch of the Azure Moon. He hopes her incredible magic can break a curse that will kill any woman he takes for a wife. When the prince sees how beautiful Tinasha is, though, he has a better idea-since she’s surely strong enough to survive his curse, she should just marry him instead! Tinasha isn’t keen on the idea, but agrees to live with Oscar in the royal castle for a year while researching the spell placed on the prince. The witch’s pretty face hides several lifetimes of dark secrets, however-secrets that begin resurfacing…”
