How Does Sonic Travel Through The Shatterverse?

Sonic Prime begins with a very nice introduction to the overall concept of the world. Sonic lives with his friends, Rogue, Knuckles, Tails, and Amy, on Green Hill, one of the most beautiful places in the world. Green Hill is basically a paradise. You can go to the beach, sleep under the coconut palms, and, of course, eat chili hot dogs as much as you want. It is a wonderful place to live. However, because of its beauty, Green Hill is in constant danger of being destroyed.

Green Hill is also home to Shadow, another Hedgehog just like Sonic, but whose relationship with the Blue Lightning is kind of antagonistic. However, he is not the biggest problem that Green Hill needs to face every day. Actually, the biggest threat to Green Hill is Dr. Eggman, a mad scientist in search of power who is always making plans to destroy Sonic and conquer the world. On this occasion, Eggman is looking for something called the Paradox Prism.

Eggman deceives Sonic into helping him get access to the prism. Sonic and Egg battle it out like usual. Sonic is extremely fast and powerful, but Eggman has many minions. So Sonic and his team go and try to stop Eggman, but in the middle of the battle, Eggman and Sonic make the Paradox Prism crash into thousands of pieces. The energy blast leaves Sonic unconscious, and it also opens a portal to another universe. Sonic lands in this other universe and realizes he is not in Green Hill anymore.

Does Sonic Manage To Go Back To His Original Universe?

Sonic falls into a place called New Yoke City. He soon realizes that this is another world and that this is a version of Green Hill that has been transformed by Dr. Eggman after he has just won his battle against Sonic. This is bad news; Sonic never loses, and the city is clearly not the perfect place to live that Green Hill used to be. All the inhabitants seem to have no souls and are in constant depression. It is here that Sonic finds Nine, the version of Tails from this world. At the start, they don’t trust each other, but Sonic wins over the fox with his tenacity.

Sonic also catches the attention of Knuckles and Rogues variants in this world. They are the resistance against Eggman and his reign and they think that Sonic might be the person they need to actually do some damage against Eggman’s regime. Eggman himself has also seen a transformation, a drastic one, as he has divided himself into five entities, and now they have named themselves The Council of Chaos. Each of the new Eggmen has a different personality, and sometimes they don’t even agree on what they need to do.

Sonic keeps traveling through what he calls the shatterverse, trying to go back to Nine and help them there with the resistance against Eggman. His final objective, of course, is then to find a way back home to his original friends and to Green Hill, his home. Sonic finds a universe where Knuckles is the captain of a pirate ship. They are looking for treasure, and Sonic realizes that the treasure is a crystal similar to the Paradox Prism, that he can use to travel.

Eggman sends his minions to try to capture the crystal before Sonic and Knuckles, but they fail as the entire crew of the ship comes together to defeat the evil minions, including Rusty Rose, a cyborg evil version of Amy. Knuckles manages to grab the prism, and Sonic saves his life as he falls from a high mountain to the ground. Sonic touches the prism, and he is transported to a weird space where he finds Shadow, who tells Sonic that everything that is happening is his fault before attacking him as the episode ends.
