‘Unseen’ Ending Explained: Does Zenzi Find Her Lost Husband?
Welcome to the Ending Explained for Unseen, a new crime thriller that is arriving this week on Netflix. The streaming service has seen a rise in productions coming from Africa. South Africa, especially, has been able to deliver a great number of shows and films in the past two years. This has basically transformed the country into a new mecca for cinematic productions in the old continent. Unseen is certainly one of the best productions coming from the country, thanks to its mix of action, intrigue, and powerful performances by its actors.
Unseen begins like any other mystery, but as our main character Zenzi starts diving deeper into the truth of her situation, the revelation that appears in front of her becomes more and more terrible. Gail Malabane shines in a role that puts on display all of her range. The actress manages to build up the character of Zenzi with each new episode until it finally breaks away in the last episode. It is a very powerful performance and one of the main reasons to watch the show. It might not be something new, but Unseen is quite entertaining.

Does Zenzi Find Her Lost Husband?
The series begins with the introduction of our main character, Zenzi. She is a house cleaner and has several clients. She also has a husband in jail who is about to be released. Things are looking up, but Zenzi has a tragedy weighing on her. Something that not even getting together with her husband can fill. Zenzi has lost a son. Witnessing a son’s death is a terrible pain for a mother or a father. The rules of nature tell us that our children should outlive us, so when the opposite happens, it can be felt in ways that go to another level.
So, for Zenzi, things become worse when her husband goes out of jail but disappears. It seems that the troubles that put them in jail in the first place are lingering, and this time they have decided to make Max disappear. Zenzi cannot lose another loved one; this time, she decides to do something. She looks for his husband’s old associates and gets them individually. However, she makes a mistake and even kills someone innocent. Throughout the story, Zenzi falls victim to her own despair and falls into the darkness.

Zenzi gets targeted by the police, and she begins to be followed. When she finally finds Max, he finds him in Death. All of her efforts and all her struggles were for nothing. She learns that Max is on a mission. Max was working as a soldier for some very bad people. These people were working toward pulling off a huge banking scam that would make them very rich. Max wanted to tell the truth about the people and stole data that could serve to take these people to jail. However, he was intercepted before he could achieve his goal.
Zenzi understands that her husband was killed while he was trying to do good. But now she sees no escape; she doesn’t have a husband or a child, and the relationship with her sister is null. She doesn’t have anything else to live for. So when the police manage to arrest her, and they start asking questions about what is happening, Zenzi sees no point in explaining herself. Detective Morkel, who has been following Zenzi’s case for a while, tries to make her talk, but it isn’t easy.
Who Killed Zenzi’s Son?
While at the police station, Morkel tries to extract information from Zenzi, but she doesn’t see the point anymore. She is now alone in this world. There is nothing to live for. However, after a while, she starts delivering pieces of information here and there to the police. She explains that Max was trying to find the truth about the baking scheme and that he was killed for it. The police are confused. They don’t know anything about this shadow organization. Nevertheless, they allow her to speak.
Meanwhile, Raymond, the man who killed Max, is facing his own issues. The powers that be are angry with him as he has let Zenzi escape, which could mean their plan could get exposed. They start making phone calls to solve the issue while Raymond is being punished. They grab Raymond and take him to the club, where they torture him. Meanwhile, the ballistic report arrives at the station, and Morkel delivers a terrible truth to Zenzi. The gun that killed Max was the same gun that killed her son. Which only means one thing.

Cupido, a police officer, takes Zenzi out of the station along with another man. They are planning to kill. Fortunately, Zenzi manages to escape and kills one of them. She arrives at her friend Lufuno Ngesi’s house and explains that she needs to confront Raymond and know who pulled the trigger. She also sets Ngesi on the trail of the bank scandal, hoping that, using his abilities, he can expose these people’s crimes. Morkel arrives at Ngesi’s house, but Ngesi helps Zenzi escape.
Zenzi follows Raymond’s trail to the club, where he is being tortured. She starts a fire to get everyone out of the building. She finds Raymond, and the last revelation comes to her: Raymond killed her son. Zenzi leaves, letting Raymond be the prey of the flames. She goes to the roof, and there her sister tries to convince her not to jump into the void. Zenzi is ready; she knows the truth about everything and is ready to leave. We don’t see it, but it is clear that Zenzi jumps from the roof, at last, finding her peace.
There are no clear signs that Unseen will have a second season, so for now, this ambiguous ending seems to be all we get. From a very grim perspective, it is a fitting ending for Zenzi and her struggle.
