‘A Tourist’s Guide to Love’ Ending Explained: Does Sinh Find Out About Amanda’s Lie?
Welcome to the Ending Explained for A Tourist’s Guide to Love, a new romantic film arriving on Netflix this week. The film is directed by Steven K. Tsuchida, and stars Rachel Leigh Cook, Scott Ly, Ben Feldman, Missi Pyle, and Thanh Truc. The film is a classic love story where two strangers meet and fall in love with each other. This is a story as old as time, and at this point, it has been told so many times that it has become quite boring. A Tourist’s Guide to Love doesn’t seem to have what it takes to make a story that is worth watching or remembering.
There is a lot of this type of content being made right now. Writers and many other artists are afraid of the incoming slate of movies and TV shows that AIs will write, but when seeing movies like this, it seems we are already there. This movie feels like AI wrote it, as it is as general and generic as possible. Creatives need to step up in the quality of their content if they don’t want to be replaced by AIs. A movie like this proves there is more to writing than just mechanics and that stories need to have a soul in them.

Why Is Amanda Travelling to Vietnam?
The film begins with the introduction of our main character, Amanda. She is presented as someone who has everything under control. She has a very awesome job. She has a nice boyfriend. She is successful. She has a great house, clothing, and so much more. She works for a company named Tourista, which focuses on traveling tours worldwide. The company is looking to invest in many countries worldwide to expand its tourism businesses and one of those countries that comes up again and again as a great tourist destination is Vietnam.
Amanda is having the time of her life and closing deal after deal with the company. Her boss, Mona, loves her. It all seems to be going well. However, when she arrives home that night, things change completely for the worse. Amanda meets with her long-time boyfriend, John. They are ready to celebrate their fifth anniversary. John doesn’t make very romantic gestures but has prepared something special for this night. He has brought food, flowers, and more. He seems quite nervous.

John starts talking and points out that they have been together for five years, and that things are going well, and so on. However, he says there is something really important he must tell her. At this point, Amanda is sure that John is about to ask for marriage, but she gets a slap in the face when John announces that he is moving to Ohio for work. How? That would make them a long-distance relationship. Well, not precisely because John just wants to end things. He doesn’t think it is fair for Amanda to wait for him, so he sets her free.
Of course, this doesn’t sit well with Amanda, and she becomes quite distraught. Mona becomes worried about her employee, so she sends Amanda to Vietnam as a sort of work vacation. Amanda will be able to leave the country, change her pace and environment, and think things through while also going to Vietnam and assessing a possible buyout over there. Kill one bird with one stone. Amanda sees the opportunity and takes it. We see Amanda at the airport, ready to take on a new adventure.
Does Sinh Find Out About Amanda’s Lie?
And so, Amanda arrives in Vietnam with two objectives in mind. One gets rid of her ex-boyfriend to take him out of her mind, and second, enjoying all the beautiful things the country has to offer. She meets with Sinh, his tour guide. He works for a company named Hanoir Silver Star, which is the company that Mona is thinking about buying. And so, it is Amanda’s task to see if the business is worth the money and, if so, what things need to change to improve it.
Amanda meets with Anh, Sinh’s sister, who also works for Silver Star, and there she realizes that Silver Star doesn’t do things by the book. First, they don’t give her welcome water, and second, there is no schedule. This torments Amanda, who always knows where she is and where she needs to go. Sinh tries to make her see that traveling is all about getting out of our comfort zone, so she needs to relax and trust that he knows his country well enough to show her the real Vietnam experience.

Amanda meets the rest of the people on her tour, and some couples are coming to Vietnam together. Amanda stands out immediately, and they realize that she had a recent breakup. However, Amanda wants to keep her job secret, so Sinh doesn’t know she represents a potential value. The tour continues, and Amanda and Sinh become closer and closer. He takes the group to his native village, and they stay there. Sinh’s grandma realizes they like each other but is sad that Amanda sees Sinh only as a friend.
Anh tells Amanda that Sinh is a bit stressed because their father, the Silver Star’s owner, wants to sell, and Sinh doesn’t want that. Amanda kisses Sinh, and they spend a wonderful night together, but John arrives wanting to have Amanda back. It is quite messy, especially when Tourista buys Silver Star and the truth about Amanda is revealed. In the end, Amanda chooses Sinh over John and tells Sinh that her feelings for him are real. They kiss once again and live happily ever, or at least that is what the movie wants us to think.
