As a spinoff of the ‘The Boys’ ‘Gen V’ introduced its fair share of controversial characters and scenes. The new generation of Supes certainly has their fare share of interesting powers, and it also seems like they are getting wilder and wilder when it comes to abusing them. One newly introduced character with vile powers was Rufus, and he also took part in one of the most shocking scenes in the first season of ‘Gen V.’ Let’s see who Rufus is and how powerful he can be if the circumstances are right.

  • Article Breakdown:
  • Rufus is a supe with telepathic powers, clairvoyance and astral projection, but he unfortunately has the tendency to use the combination of his powers as a date rape drug/roofie.
  • He was the student in question whose penis Marie had blown off when he attempted to abuse her.
  • Rufus can be extremely dangerous if his victim allows him to make physical contact; if you are aware of what kind of powers Rufus has, he is relatively easy to deal with.

Rufus is the contender of the biggest creep on Godolking University Campus

Rufus is first introduced when Cate uses her mind-manipulation powers on him when he mocks Golden Boy following his gruesome suicide on the campus. After that incident with a baseball bat, he mostly lay low and had a minor role in the series until Marie needed him.

As soon as Rufus made physical contact with Marie, he decided to abuse his telepathic powers to make her sleep with him. She woke up in his room; he was naked in front of her, and reacting by sheer instincts, Marie used her blood-manipulating powers to blow his penis clean off in one of the most gruesome scenes in the series.

After that, we found out from Cate that Rufus sexually exploited her back when she was new on the campus and when she wasn’t aware of his powers. Andre wanted to kick his ass, or worse, but he was stopped on time. When the gang is brainwashed by Cate following the incident with Doctor Cardossa and Sam, the first person that everyone is suspicious of is Rufus, but he turns out to be innocent as Cate was the one that erased all recollections of the night from their minds.

RELATED:

As you can see, Rufus is a creep, a dangerous one, and the punishment that he suffered at the hands of Marie was more than adequate. The showrunner always aimed for him to be a creep. In fact, his name is a clear reference to Roofies, as the showrunners did intend for Rufus to be a walking roofie.

How powerful is Rufus?

Rufus is an extremely powerful telepath, as he was seen mind-controlling people on several occasions, even putting them in some kind of coma. He also claims that he is capable of clairvoyance and astral projection, but that is not something that we’ve seen firsthand.

Rusu seems to have powers similar to Cate’s, even though this is hard to evaluate since neither of them has clear boundaries on what they can and can’t do. In fact, it would seem that Rufus is slightly more powerful than Cate. Cate has imposed limits on the pills that Indira Shetty was giving her. Every time she would abuse her powers too much, she would suffer from terrible headaches. Rufus doesn’t have such a limit on his powers, but it’s also quite possible that his mind control is not as extensive as Cate’s and not quite so permanent. It’s possible that he is only able to mind control somebody for a short period of time, which would explain why Marie woke up when she did.

So, how powerful is Rufus? That depends. If other supes around him are aware of his powers and their limits, primarily that he needs physical touch with the person to mind-control her, his is not that powerful considering that he seems to be more vulnerable to physical damage than your regular supe.

But if you are caught off guard, like Marie and Cate were, then you will most definitely fall victim to Rufus’ predatory behavior.

When it comes to physical abilities, Rufus doesn’t appear to have super strength or super speed or the usual package of “super” physical abilities, although he does have an extremely fast and potent healing factor, considering that he did manage to recover pretty fast after his shocking but deserved injury. Overall, Rufus is dangerous, but only for those who are unaware of his status as a walking roofie.
