Rumors: ‘Blade’ Reboot Gets a Plot Update & Interesting Reveal Regarding Its Title
Marvel has numerous upcoming projects slated for release in the coming years. However, many of these projects have faced delays or cancellations due to the recent SAG-AFTRA strike, which affected the entire industry.
One highly anticipated Marvel Studios project that encountered issues even before the strike is the ‘Blade’ reboot. This movie, set in the MCU, follows Eric Brooks, a prominent vampire hunter in comics. It serves as a reboot of the beloved ‘Blade’ trilogy, which played a significant role in shaping the MCU as we know it today.
Very little information is available about the ‘Blade’ movie, except that Mahershala Ali initiated the project and will portray the main character, a vampire hunter. Initially, the story was said to revolve around his daughter. Recent rumors suggested that the movie might not be set in a specific historical period anymore, and filming relocated from Atlanta to London.
In a recent Q&A session, Alex Perez addressed questions about the reboot. When directly asked if it remains a period piece, Perez hinted that the movie’s title will be linked to a significant weapon in the Marvel Universe but didn’t provide a clear answer regarding its period setting.
The title Blade has a double meaning. It will be an origin story for both the character and the Ebony Blade. While I expect many of its elements to be set in the past, I do expect it to have a structure similar to how Eternals was handled.
The Ebony Blade briefly appeared in the post-credits scenes of ‘Eternals’ and is associated with Dane Whitman, also known as Black Knight. The movie confirms the weapon’s appearance, and there are rumors that suggest Harington will return to play the Black Knight.
