Tom Cavanagh Is Scheduled to Make an Appearance in ‘Superman & Lois’
While ‘Superman & Lois’ remains distinct from the broader Arrowverse, it stands out as the CW’s top superhero series due to its strong writing. Despite facing challenges, including changes following Nexstar’s acquisition of CW, the show managed to survive restructuring while other series were canceled.
This resulted in some main cast members being released, fewer writers, and a reduced episode count compared to previous seasons. Now, after months of filming, the final season of ‘Superman & Lois’ has concluded production, gearing up for its Fall 2024 premiere.
Tom Cavanagh announced at FAN EXPO Philadelphia that he will be both directing and acting in the upcoming final season of ‘Superman & Lois.’
So what was interesting about the final season of ‘Superman & Lois’ — like, I like to [direct] their finales and their premieres, because you get so much more money, you know? So the finale for ‘Superman & Lois’ was taken up already, and so I said, ‘Well, I’m happy to not do it,’ which is when Todd was like ‘Well, would you play a role?’ And so that’s coming up, for those of you that watch ‘Superman & Lois’ — something that I’m happy to have done.
In the Arrowverse, Cavanagh portrayed various characters, notably Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash and Harrison Wells in multiple seasons of ‘The Flash.’ Additionally, he appeared in crossover events spanning other Arrowverse series such as ‘Supergirl,’ ‘Arrow,’ and ‘Legends of Tomorrow.’
While portraying Thawne might seem like the expected route, budget constraints may prevent it. Fans speculate that Cavanagh will probably reprise his role as Wells. However, given that ‘Superman & Lois’ exists in a distinct universe from the broader Arrowverse, he could also portray a new character. What’s your take? Share in the comments!
