‘Thunderbolts*’ slated for release in 2025 is among the most anticipated upcoming releases. The film aims to unveil a fresh team of anti-heroes to the MCU, including the formidable character Sentry, known as one of Marvel Comics’ most powerful figures.

During the movie’s development, Sentry’s role posed a challenge as several actors were considered, including Austin Abrams, Dev Patel, and Steven Yeun, all of whom declined the role. Ultimately, the role was secured by Lewis Pullman, a confirmation made by the studio several months ago.

In a recent interview with the Happy, Sad, Confused Podcast, Pullman provided insights into what fans can anticipate from his role. Upon seeing an image of Sentry, Pullman remarked on the character’s distinctive appearance, particularly his locks, noting that he had never worn anything similar in his life, referring to Sentry’s iconic yellow-blue costume.

During the conversation, the host and Pullman delved into discussions about superpowers. Pullman expressed an interest in shapeshifting, suggesting that it would allow him to replicate all other powers. Prompted by the host, Pullman hinted that his portrayal of Sentry in ‘Thunderbolts*’ might indeed involve shapeshifting abilities.

I haven’t looked into Sentry, that’s the first I’ve heard that name but Sentry, sounds kind of snaky shape-shifty vibe.

Delivered with humor, Pullman subtly hints at an important aspect of the character while keeping details about the movie under wraps. While shape-shifting isn’t one of Sentry’s most common powers, it’s technically within his abilities.

After a showdown with Molecule Man, Sentry uncovers his power of molecular manipulation, using it to restore himself from a liquid state. Though mainly used to maintain his physical form, the full extent of these powers remains mysterious. Despite his lack of control compared to Molecule Man, Sentry manages to defeat him. The connection between Sentry and The Void suggests that The Void’s shape-shifting might be linked to Sentry’s molecular manipulation.

Reynolds’ molecularkinesis potentially grants him regenerative healing abilities, alongside his near-invulnerability. Most of his powers are thought to stem from his capability to manipulate matter and energy, allowing him to mimic various superpowers with practice. He exhibits this ability subconsciously as The Void. With full mastery of his powers, attained after overcoming agoraphobia, he can manipulate molecules to an even greater extent.

Thus, it’s probable that Pullman was referring to molecular manipulation rather than shape-shifting, as shape-shifting alone doesn’t inherently grant the superpowers of the copied individual.
