Jennifer Garner Reveals Behind-the-Scenes Moments from ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Set, Featuring Scarlet Witch in the Background
Deadpool & Wolverine is the latest addition to the MCU, achieving massive international success and setting box office records while captivating audiences around the globe. A significant part of its success is due to its fan service.
If you’ve watched Deadpool & Wolverine, you’re probably aware that it features the return of several beloved legacy characters from past Marvel properties, along with numerous entertaining Easter eggs.
One of the legacy characters returning in Deadpool & Wolverine is Jennifer Garner’s Elektra. Garner originally played the character in the 2003 film Daredevil and its 2005 standalone, Elektra. The latter was a significant flop, often cited as a setback for both Garner’s career and the portrayal of female superheroes in live-action.
Frequently listed among the “worst superhero movies,” it was surprising to see Garner reprise the role. However, Deadpool & Wolverine seems to provide a fitting closure for her character. Garner’s performance was stellar, and her recent social media posts suggest she thoroughly enjoyed filming.
Garner shared her “morning routine” from the set of Deadpool & Wolverine and revealed an intriguing Easter egg—a statue of Scarlet Witch visible in one scene. The statue has an ominous appearance, and Garner humorously referred to it as Blake Lively, nodding to the actress playing Lady Deadpool and wife of Ryan Reynolds.
The Scarlet Witch statue is likely just a playful Easter egg and probably doesn’t have a deeper connection to the broader MCU, despite resembling the one from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, fans have speculated that it could represent a reality where Scarlet Witch ruled with an iron fist or even hint at a world where she is still regarded as a mutant, possibly foreshadowing her return.
Some have even suggested that the statue could imply that the Scarlet Witch from Earth-616 is trapped within it, leading to its placement in the Void by the TVA. However, this theory seems unlikely given that Deadpool & Wolverine is set before Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
