Marvel and DC Unite: First Look at Wild Crossovers in Upcoming Batman & Deadpool Comic
Marvel and DC are teaming up once again, and fans have a big reason to get excited. This September, both comic book giants will release a new one-shot crossover comic that pairs some of their most popular characters in fresh and unexpected ways.
The main focus will be on a team-up between Deadpool and Batman. The comic, titled Marvel/DC: Deadpool/Batman #1, brings these two very different characters together for the first time in a brand-new story.
But that’s not all. Alongside the main story, readers will get to enjoy several short team-up stories featuring more big names from both universes. Some of the characters featured include Captain America, Wonder Woman, and a fun meeting between two fan-favorite pets—Jeff the Land Shark and Krypto the Superdog.
Zeb Wells is writing the Batman and Deadpool story, with art by Greg Capullo. Kevin Smith is behind another story in the issue, and he’s paired up with artist Adam Kubert. Chip Zdarsky and Terry Dodson are working on a story featuring two well-known heroes from opposite sides, and Kelly Thompson and Gurihiru are taking on the Jeff and Krypto segment.
Each of these short stories will have its own special cover. Some of them have already been revealed, showing a bit of what fans can expect from this rare crossover event. Capullo also created a large wraparound cover that gives a wide look at all the characters involved.
According to editor Mark Basso, the creators are enjoying the process of mixing characters from both worlds. “We’re going to all corners of the Marvel and DC Universes, and the creators are having an absolute blast finding the unexpected and unexplored connections between these characters,” he said.

Zdarsky shared his excitement about writing two iconic heroes working together. “Captain America and Wonder Woman are the best their worlds have to offer,” he said. “Getting to explore a dynamic and history between them has been genuinely exciting.”
Thompson also spoke about writing a lighthearted story between Jeff and Krypto. “Two ICONS meeting for the first time! It’s such an honor for Jeff to get to be Marvel’s ambassador in this crossover story with Krypto,” she said. “Anyone who loves comics knows how rare it is for DC and Marvel to crossover.”
The one-shot issue will be released on September 17, 2025, and fans can expect more surprise stories in the future, according to the editorial team.
This crossover feels like a big moment for comic book lovers. Seeing different characters from both Marvel and DC interact is rare, so this is a special treat. I’m especially looking forward to the mix of serious and fun stories all in one comic. What about you? Which team-up are you most excited to read? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
