After years of changes and delays, Masters of the Universe has finally finished filming. The movie, which is based on the classic Mattel toys, is now one step closer to making its way to theaters. Nicholas Galitzine, who plays Prince Adam, and Camila Mendes, who plays Teela, were seen on set as production officially came to an end.

The film is scheduled to come out on June 5, 2026. Amazon MGM Studios will handle the release.

The story follows Adam Glenn, a boy who lands on Earth after a crash and loses the Sword of Grayskull. Years later, as an adult, he finds the sword again and returns to his home planet, Eternia. There, he becomes He-Man and leads the fight against the evil Skeletor.

Camila Mendes plays Teela, a tough and loyal fighter who works alongside Adam. She’s also the adopted daughter of Duncan, known as Man-At-Arms, played by Idris Elba.

Jared Leto takes on the role of Skeletor, the main villain and half-brother to Eternia’s king. The cast also includes Charlotte Riley as Queen Marlena and James Purefoy as King Randor, who are Adam’s parents. Alison Brie plays Evil-Lyn, a sorceress working for Skeletor, while Morena Baccarin plays the Sorceress of Castle Grayskull.

Other actors in the film include Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Fisto, Sasheer Zamata as Adam’s best friend Suzie, and Jon Xue Zhang as Ram-Man. Some of Skeletor’s allies will be played by Sam C. Wilson (Trap Jaw), Hafthor Bjornsson (Goat Man), and Kojo Attah (Tri-Klops).

Filming began in London on January 6, 2025. Fabian Wagner was the director of photography. Galitzine later confirmed on Instagram that filming wrapped on June 15.

The road to making this movie was anything but smooth. The project had been passed between different studios for years, with many directors, writers, and actors attached at different times. At one point, Netflix was producing it but canceled the project in 2023 after spending about $30 million, citing high costs.

Directors like John Woo, Jon M. Chu, and David S. Goyer were all attached to the project in the past. Actors Noah Centineo and Kyle Allen were also linked to the He-Man role before Galitzine was cast.

It wasn’t until Travis Knight stepped in as director and Chris Butler rewrote the script that the movie finally moved forward.

This new version of Masters of the Universe seems to blend action and science fiction, with a fresh cast and updated story. Fans have been waiting a long time, and now the finish line is in sight.

Honestly, it’s exciting to see this movie finally come together after all the problems it faced. The cast looks solid, and the story has enough action and nostalgia to grab people’s attention. I’m curious to see how it all plays out on screen. What about you? Are you looking forward to seeing Masters of the Universe? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
