Apple TV+ is back with good news for fans of “Ted Lasso.” The popular sports comedy show is officially filming its fourth season, starting in Kansas City with more shooting planned in London. A first look at the new season has already been shared.

Jason Sudeikis will return as Ted Lasso, and the original cast members like Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, and Jeremy Swift are confirmed to be back as well.

New faces joining the show include Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsey, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, and Grant Feely. While details about their characters are being kept secret, it’s known that Grant Feely will now play Henry Lasso, Ted’s son.

The new season’s story is about Ted coming back to Richmond to coach a women’s second division football team.

The official summary says, “Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.”

Jack Burditt has joined as executive producer under a new overall deal with Apple TV+. Jason Sudeikis will also be an executive producer along with Brendan Hunt, Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee, and Bill Wrubel. Brett Goldstein will write and executive produce, teaming up with Leanne Bowen.

Bill Lawrence is executive producing through his Doozer Productions with Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer. Writers Sara Walker and Phoebe Walsh are co-executive producers, while Sasha Garron is a co-producer. Julia Lindon and Dylan Marron are involved in writing and story editing. Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television are producing the show. The series was originally developed by Sudeikis, Lawrence, Kelly, and Hunt, and it’s based on a format and characters from NBC Sports.

“Ted Lasso” first came out in 2020, with season three airing in 2023. The show quickly became popular, partly because it offered a message of kindness and happiness when the world was struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over its run, “Ted Lasso” received 61 Emmy nominations and won 13 awards. It won best comedy series two years in a row, and both Jason Sudeikis and Brett Goldstein won back-to-back Emmys for their roles.
