New Look at ‘Percy Jackson’ Season 2 Revealed as Cast Opens Up About Real Injuries

Fans finally have something new to be excited about. Entertainment Weekly has just shared a fresh look at the second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
After a long wait since the first season premiered on Disney+ back in December 2023, the new season is officially set to hit screens in December 2025.
The first season followed Percy’s first adventure in The Lightning Thief. Now, season two will take on The Sea of Monsters, the second book in Rick Riordan’s famous series. The story will see Percy return to Camp Half-Blood and soon set out on a dangerous mission across the Sea of Monsters, also known as the Bermuda Triangle.
Walker Scobell is back as Percy. But according to Entertainment Weekly, his biggest challenge during filming wasn’t a monster, it was his own bed. “I fell out of bed, and in one take, I headbutted the ground with my chin,” he said, laughing. “I get up and look in the mirror, and there’s one side of my chin that’s sticking out super far because I have a giant bruise that you can see very clearly on camera.”
Apparently, he wasn’t the only one dealing with battle scars. Leah Sava Jeffries, who plays Annabeth, shared her own on-set injury. “I had a long cut down the side of my face for two weeks after slicing myself with my own prop dagger,” she said. She admitted she was actually “so upset” when it healed too fast to leave a cool scar.
Aryan Simhadri, who plays Grover, also shared his struggles. He revealed he kept getting nosebleeds during filming, saying “I would get nosebleeds all the time on set.” Dior Goodjohn, playing Clarisse, ripped off a fingernail during a fight scene. Charlie Bushnell, returning as Luke, hurt his shoulder—not in battle, but while putting on a jacket. “Not my proudest moment, that’s for sure,” Bushnell joked.
But the actors aren’t just fighting injuries. The story itself gets bigger and bolder. According to reports from Disney and statements from the creators, this season steps out of the studio. While much of the first season was filmed on indoor virtual sets, the new season is going big with real locations and practical effects.
Aryan Simhadri said filming real sets was way more exciting. “Those have to be real. Those have to be grand. And it was just so insane seeing those come to life.” Showrunner Dan Shotz explained why the team moved away from digital sets. “Because we were going on the water this season in the Sea of Monsters, we realized that we weren’t going to be using it as much. That forced us to get practical.”
Fans can expect big new scenes like battles on iron warships, chariot races, dangerous caves, and even a massive cruise ship where Kronos’ army gathers.
The main cast returns, including Walker Scobell as Percy, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth, Aryan Simhadri as Grover, and Charlie Bushnell as Luke. New characters like Tyson, Percy’s Cyclops half-brother played by Daniel Diemer, are joining the adventure.
Behind the scenes, Albert Kim has joined as executive producer. Disney+ confirmed that writing for the third season, which will adapt The Titan’s Curse, has already started.
With a new poster now out and Entertainment Weekly sharing the latest images, Percy Jackson fans don’t have to wait too long before seeing their favorite demigods return for their next epic quest.
