Marvel Needs to Bring These 10 Characters Back Before the MCU Gets Even More Lost
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has built a massive world of heroes and villains over the years, but it’s starting to feel a bit lost. With so many new faces and sprawling multiverse plots, some beloved characters have been left behind, leaving gaps in storytelling and fan connection.
Bringing back certain characters could ground the MCU and give it the spark it needs. Here are ten characters I think deserve a comeback to help steer the franchise back on track.
Justin Hammer

Justin Hammer, played by Sam Rockwell in ‘Iron Man 2’ (2010), is a slick, scheming rival to Tony Stark. His shady CEO vibe and knack for creating chaos make him a perfect foil for new heroes stepping into Tony’s shoes.
I’d love to see Hammer return as a mastermind behind new tech threats, maybe funding villains to challenge the likes of Riri Williams. His charm and cunning could add a grounded, human edge to the MCU’s cosmic battles.
Scarlet Scarab

Layla El-Faouly, portrayed by May Calamawy in ‘Moon Knight’ (2022), became the Scarlet Scarab, a fierce Egyptian hero. Her debut was thrilling, but she’s been absent since, which feels like a missed opportunity.
She could shine in a supernatural team-up, perhaps with Blade or Moon Knight again, bringing her unique powers and cultural depth. Her return would add a fresh hero to the roster and tie into the MCU’s growing mystical side.
Ghost Rider

Johnny Blaze, the fiery Spirit of Vengeance, has only appeared in a cameo in ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ (2013-2020) as Robbie Reyes. The MCU needs a full-on Ghost Rider to ignite its supernatural corner.
Blaze could ride into a Blade film or a Midnight Sons project, facing off against demons like Mephisto. His hellfire and grit would bring a darker, edgier vibe to balance the MCU’s lighter tones.
Quicksilver

Pietro Maximoff, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ (2015), was a speedster gone too soon. His death hit hard, and fans have been clamoring for his return ever since.
With the multiverse in play, a variant of Pietro could race back, maybe joining Wanda in a future Avengers film. His speed and sibling dynamic would add emotional weight and action-packed flair.
Luke Cage

Mike Colter’s Luke Cage from ‘Luke Cage’ (2016-2018) brought street-level grit to the MCU. His bulletproof heroics and Harlem roots made him a standout, but he’s been missing from the big picture.
Cage could return in a Heroes for Hire team-up with Iron Fist or even join Spider-Man in New York-based adventures. His strength and heart would ground the MCU’s more cosmic stories.
Iron Fist

Danny Rand, portrayed by Finn Jones in ‘Iron Fist’ (2017-2018), had a rocky run but holds untapped potential. The Immortal Iron Fist could shine with better writing and a fresh chance.
A Heroes for Hire film or a Shang-Chi sequel could showcase Danny’s martial arts mastery. His mystic Chi powers would add a unique flavor to the MCU’s growing roster of fighters.
Black Bolt

Anson Mount’s Black Bolt appeared briefly in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ (2022) as an alternate-universe variant. His earth-shattering voice deserves a main-timeline spotlight.
Black Bolt could lead an Inhumans revival or join the Avengers to face cosmic threats like Doctor Doom. His quiet intensity and raw power would make him a fan favorite again.
Ultron

James Spader’s Ultron in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ (2015) was a chilling AI villain who felt underused. His potential to return via a hidden backup makes him a lingering threat.
Reports suggest Ultron might return in ‘Vision Quest’ (2026), which would be perfect. He could challenge Vision or new heroes, bringing back a classic Avengers foe with modern stakes.
Scarlet Witch

Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen in multiple films and ‘WandaVision’ (2021), seemed to meet her end in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ (2022). But her power is too great to stay gone.
Wanda could return in ‘Agatha: Coven of Chaos’ or an Avengers film, exploring her redemption or multiversal variants. Her emotional depth and reality-warping abilities are vital to the MCU’s future.
Ikaris

Richard Madden’s Ikaris from ‘Eternals’ (2021) flew into the sun after a tragic betrayal. In comics, Eternals can regenerate, so his return isn’t out of the question.
Ikaris could come back in an ‘Eternals’ sequel or join a cosmic Avengers lineup, seeking redemption. His Superman-like powers and complex morality would add depth to the MCU’s sprawling saga.
Which of these characters do you want to see back in the MCU, or is there another hero or villain I missed? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
