‘Jurassic World: Rebirth’ Roars Past a Major Box Office Milestone Globally, Even With Mixed Reviews
The dinosaurs are still making money. Jurassic World: Rebirth has crossed $718 million worldwide as of July 27, 2025, with $301.5 million coming from the U.S. and Canada, and another $416.8 million from overseas.
Even though critics weren’t too kind, the movie had a strong opening and continues to pull in cash at the global box office.
At first, reports thought the movie would make somewhere between $100 to $125 million over its first five days in North America. But some industry professionals were more optimistic, predicting around $115 to $135 million.
As the film got closer to release, estimates went up again. Deadline said it might open with $260 million globally, with about $130 million just in the U.S. and Canada.
That estimate kept climbing. On its first day, the movie made $30.5 million. The next day, it made another $25.3 million, and predictions jumped again. By the Fourth of July, the film made $26.3 million in a single day.
Then, on July 5, it hit $35.6 million. After all that, the movie ended up making $147.8 million in its first five days, including $92 million just from the three-day weekend. Worldwide, it brought in $322.6 million during that same time.
In its second weekend, things slowed down a bit. Jurassic World: Rebirth made $40.3 million, which was a 56% drop from its debut. It lost the number one spot at the box office to Superman, but it still held on strong.
Audience reactions were okay, but not great. CinemaScore gave it a “B,” which is decent, but not glowing. Over on Metacritic, the film scored a 50 out of 100, based on reviews from 54 critics.
That means the feedback was mixed. Rotten Tomatoes shows a 51% positive rating out of 361 critic reviews. The critics’ consensus said, “Going back to basics with rip-roaring set pieces and fossilized clichés, Jurassic World Rebirth doesn’t evolve this prehistoric franchise but does restore some of its most reliable DNA.”
So far, even with that lukewarm reception, people are still showing up to see dinosaurs on the big screen. And the numbers don’t lie, Jurassic World: Rebirth is one of the biggest films of the year.
