Netflix’s Latest Hit Limited Series Renewed for Season 2

Netflix has decided to bring back Untamed for a second season, even though it was first announced as a limited series. The renewal comes after the show’s huge success when it premiered on July 17. According to Variety, the series quickly became a hit with both viewers and critics, leading Netflix to order more episodes.

Set in the stunning wilderness of Yosemite National Park, Untamed is a mystery thriller that follows Kyle Turner, a special agent with the National Park Service, played by Eric Bana. He investigates crimes in nature’s harsh and unpredictable environment, where the rules of society don’t always apply.

The first season also starred Sam Neill, Rosemarie DeWitt, Lily Santiago, Wilson Bethel, and more.

Eric Bana shared his excitement about the renewal in a statement, saying, “I am absolutely thrilled that we get the chance to bring another season of ‘Untamed’ to life. The response to season 1 has been a testament to the incredible effort by our crew to deliver something truly unique. I can’t wait to take Kyle on his next journey. In its first week, Untamed climbed straight to the top of Netflix’s global Top 10 English-language shows. Even with just a few days of streaming, it pulled in an impressive 24.6 million views between July 14 and 20, beating its closest competition by a wide margin. Amy Bradley Is Missing came in second with 12.2 million views during the same period.

The series, created for Netflix and produced by Warner Bros. Television and John Wells Productions, mixes emotional drama with mystery and danger. It centers on Turner, who is still mourning the death of his young son six years earlier, while trying to solve a suspicious death inside the national park. As the investigation unfolds, secrets from the past and the harsh realities of life in the wild begin to surface.

Joining Bana in the main cast are Sam Neill as the head ranger and Turner’s mentor, Rosemarie DeWitt as Turner’s ex-wife Jill, and Lily Santiago as Naya Vasquez, a new ranger helping him with the case. Wilson Bethel plays the wildlife officer with a military background. The supporting cast includes William Smillie, Raoul Max Trujillo, Joe Holt, Josh Randall, Ezra Franky, and others.

Critics have had mixed reactions. On Rotten Tomatoes, the show has an 80% approval rating based on 51 reviews, with the site saying, “Wrangled by Eric Bana’s steady star power, Untamed’s solid murder mystery is elevated by the visually sumptuous backdrop of its Yosemite National Park milieu.” On Metacritic, the series earned a score of 62 out of 100, suggesting a range of opinions.

The first season left viewers with lots of questions and plenty of interest in what happens next. With its mix of emotional storytelling, crime investigation, and a unique national park setting, Untamed has found an audience—and now it’s getting another shot to grow even bigger.

Season 2 is officially on the way, but no release date has been announced yet. For now, fans can still catch the first season, streaming exclusively on Netflix.
