“Zootopia 2” is heading to theaters on November 26, 2025, and fans are finally getting a look at what Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde have been up to since their first big adventure. Turns out, things between the bunny and the fox aren’t going as smoothly as you’d expect. In fact, they’re now in therapy. Yep, couples therapy… sort of.

The latest trailer shows the two police partners meeting with a therapist, played by Quinta Brunson. It’s not exactly romantic therapy, though. As Judy points out, they’ve only been official police partners for a week. Still, things are rocky enough that Chief Bogo (voiced again by Idris Elba) has forced them into partner counseling. If they don’t fix their issues, he’s ready to break up the team.

Judy and Nick are facing a new mystery involving a snake named Gary De’Snake. He’s voiced by Ke Huy Quan and seems to be a complicated character. Nick doesn’t trust him at all, saying, “No snake has set foot in Zootopia in forever,” but Gary insists he’s only trying to help his family. Whether or not he’s telling the truth is a big part of the movie’s story.

The case takes Judy and Nick into parts of Zootopia they’ve never been to before, including a strange place called Marsh Market. That’s where they run into some new characters, like a beaver named Nibbles Maplestick (voiced by Fortune Feimster). Along the way, they’ll also cross paths with old friends like Clawhauser, Gazelle (voiced again by Shakira, who’s even working on a new song for the movie), and the tiny but powerful Mr. Big.

According to Walt Disney Animation Studios, “Judy and Nick find themselves on the twisting trail of a mysterious reptile who arrives in Zootopia and turns the mammal metropolis upside down. To crack the case, Judy and Nick must go undercover to unexpected new parts of town.”

The movie is being directed by Jared Bush, who also wrote the script. Byron Howard, one of the original creators of Zootopia, has returned as co-director. The film is produced by Yvett Merino and features returning voices from Ginnifer Goodwin as Judy and Jason Bateman as Nick, along with a cast that includes Nate Torrence, Jean Reno, Josh Dallas, Jenny Slate, Bonnie Hunt, and more.

“Zootopia 2” has been in the works for a while. Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed in early 2023 that a sequel was happening. Bush later shared that he was already writing the story, and by 2024, Goodwin had started recording her lines.

The teaser trailer dropped back in May, giving fans their first peek at the therapy scenes and the mysterious snake who’s stirring up trouble in the city.

So, while Judy and Nick might be on shaky ground, the stakes are higher than ever. If they can’t solve this new case together, they might not be partners, or friends, for much longer.
