New Epic Clip Drops for ‘Eyes of Wakanda’ — Marvel’s Bold Animated MCU Adventure Hits Disney+ Soon!
Marvel fans got a fresh look at the upcoming animated show, Eyes of Wakanda. This new series is set to stream on Disney+ starting August 1, 2025, and it’s the next big thing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Created by Todd Harris and produced by Marvel Studios Animation alongside Ryan Coogler’s Proximity Media, the show dives deep into the secret history of Wakanda, focusing on the Hatut Zaraze, elite Wakandan warriors who go on dangerous missions through time to recover powerful vibranium artifacts.
The series is different from previous Marvel animated shows because it takes place right within the main MCU timeline, the so-called “Sacred Timeline.” Todd Harris, who is the showrunner and director, wanted to tell a story that connects Wakanda’s rich history with the bigger Marvel world.
He describes the show as “a giant spy-espionage story that spans time.” The animation style is unique, inspired by African-American artists like Ernie Barnes and classic illustrators such as Dean Cornwell. The hand-painted look adds a special vibe to the show, making it feel fresh and authentic.
The cast features some well-known voices, including Winnie Harlow as Noni, a former member of the Dora Milaje, Wakanda’s fierce all-female warriors. Cress Williams voices a character called the Lion, a former general turned pirate with big plans for Wakanda’s tech. Other voices include Patricia Belcher, Lynn Whitfield, Anika Noni Rose, and Jona Xiao, who plays a mysterious Iron Fist warrior.
The story starts way back in 1260 BC, at the end of the Western Bronze Age, exploring what Wakanda might have been like in those ancient times. Ryan Coogler, the filmmaker behind the Black Panther movies, teamed up with Marvel and Disney to bring this project to life as part of a larger deal that began in 2021. Coogler’s production company, Proximity Media, wanted to expand the Wakanda universe beyond the movies and honor the legacy of Chadwick Boseman, the original Black Panther.
Todd Harris first came up with the idea while working on Avengers: Infinity War and pitched it to Coogler, who loved the concept. Harris said they wanted to explore Wakanda’s influence throughout history, imagining how its warriors might have shaped events around the world. He explained, “The Hatut Zaraze were Wakanda’s CIA,” a secret force testing their loyalty on challenging missions.
The series has four episodes, each about 30 minutes long, and all will be available at the same time when the show launches. Marvel Studios spent a significant amount of money on the series, showing how important it is for the studio. Hesham Nazih, who scored the Moon Knight series, is composing the music, adding another layer of atmosphere to the storytelling.
The first episode, titled Into the Lion’s Den, was screened at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June 2025, giving fans a sneak peek before the official release. The show was also promoted heavily at Marvel’s D23 convention and Disney’s big presentations, where the creators shared new footage and behind-the-scenes insights.
Eyes of Wakanda marks the beginning of Phase Six of the MCU, setting the stage for more stories from Wakanda’s past. It promises to be a mix of action, history, and culture, all wrapped in stunning animation. Fans can look forward to exploring new corners of the Marvel universe while experiencing Wakanda like never before.
