Season 4 includes 10 episodes, with one arriving every Wednesday until the finale on October 7, and Apple TV is releasing the season weekly rather than all at once. Apple TV confirmed the premiere date itself, stating that season four will make its global debut on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, followed by new episodes every Wednesday through October 7.

Viewers who like to stay up late for premieres have an early option. The first episode will actually come out on Tuesday, August 4, at 9 p.m. ET and 6 p.m. PT, giving US viewers early access ahead of the official August 5 release date, with the episode releasing simultaneously worldwide at the corresponding local time on Wednesday.

For anyone tracking individual episode titles, at least the opening chapters have already been listed. Episode 1, titled Home, arrives Wednesday, August 5, followed by Episode 2, Curiouser and Curiouser, on August 12, Episode 3, Richmond’s Got Talent, on August 19, and Episode 4, Greyhounds’ Day Off, on August 26.

The overall run has no scheduled breaks. The confirmed premiere and finale dates show the season running for 10 consecutive weeks without a planned hiatus. That steady pace mirrors how Apple TV has handled other flagship series, giving the show a full two and a half months in the cultural conversation rather than a single weekend drop.

Returning Cast Members Bring Familiar Faces Back to Richmond

Much of the emotional pull of Season 4 comes from who is coming back. Season four welcomes the return of Emmy Award winner Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Emmy Award winner Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, and Jeremy Swift. That means Rebecca Welton, Keeley Jones, Roy Kent, Coach Beard, and Leslie Higgins are all back in the fold alongside Sudeikis.

The season also folds in a piece of continuity that longtime fans will notice immediately. Feely takes over the role of Ted’s son Henry, a recasting that reflects the years that have passed since the character last appeared on screen.

Not every familiar face is returning, though. Nick Mohammed, who played Nathan Nate Shelley, is not reprising his role, and Phil Dunster, who played Jamie Tartt, is not coming back due to scheduling conflicts. Many of the men’s Richmond players from the first three seasons, including Toheeb Jimoh as Sam Obisanya, Cristo Fernandez as Dani Rojas, Kola Bokinni as Isaac McAdoo, and Billy Harris as Colin Hughes, are not currently slated to appear, though guest spots have not been ruled out.

Brendan Hunt has spoken about where Ted’s headspace is at the start of the season. In an exclusive interview with TV Insider, Hunt described Ted as having taken a step back into a less stressful life that gives him more time with his son, before Rebecca, Keeley, and Higgins fly in to convince him to return to Richmond.

New Cast Additions Introduce the Lady Greyhounds

The show’s new direction required an almost entirely new supporting cast around the women’s team. Season four introduces new cast members Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, and Grant Feely.

Their roles have since been detailed more specifically. Tanya Reynolds plays Alice Chilton, who coaches alongside Lasso, while the Lady Greyhounds players include Abbie Hern as Gemma, Jude Mack as Boots, Faye Marsay as Lizzie, and twins Aisling Sharkey as Niamh and Rex Hayes as Siobhan.

Reynolds’ character in particular has been framed as a central arc for the season. Reporting has described Alice as someone trying hard to present as tough and focused, having lost her sense of humor and softness in the process, with her journey centered on gradually peeling back that hard exterior.

The behind the scenes team has shifted slightly as well to support this new chapter. Jack Burditt has joined as an executive producer for Season 4, while Jason Sudeikis continues to lead the creative team alongside the returning executive producers and writers.

A Shift in Premise Reshapes the Show’s Direction

The decision to center the new season on a women’s team was not a last minute pivot. The women’s team premise had surfaced in earlier reporting well before Season 4 was confirmed, making the direction feel more like a continuation of an idea already planted than a full reinvention.

Production on the season began in Kansas City in July 2025 before moving to London, and Sudeikis and Apple formally confirmed the season on March 14, 2025, after Season 3 had originally been written as the conclusion of Ted’s story.

The stakes of that creative choice go beyond a simple format change. Creating an AFC Richmond women’s team gives the show a way to preserve the club and its established characters without simply repeating the men’s team’s earlier rise through English football, while also placing Ted back in an unfamiliar sporting environment.

‘Ted Lasso’ built its reputation on optimism in the face of setbacks, and Season 4 appears designed to test that same spirit in a new setting rather than retread old ground.
