Netflix just dropped some big news for One Piece fans during this year’s One Piece Day in Tokyo, the yearly event that celebrates Eiichiro Oda’s legendary manga. Along with showing off the first sneak peeks from season 2 of the live-action series, the streamer also confirmed that a third season is already on the way.

The new teaser for season 2 gives fans a quick look at Iñaki Godoy back as Monkey D. Luffy, along with the rest of the Straw Hat crew, Emily Rudd as Nami, Mackenyu as Zoro, Taz Skylar as Sanji, and Jacob Romero as Usopp. Viewers also get their first real glimpse at several new characters joining the story.

Lera Abova plays Miss All-Sunday, Charithra Chandran appears as Miss Wednesday, Callum Kerr steps in as Captain Smoker, and Brendan Murray takes on the role of Brogy.

In the teaser, Luffy’s voice rings out with determination: “Everything I’ve done, everywhere I go is for the One Piece.” Netflix’s official description for the new season says, “Luffy and the Straw Hats set sail for the extraordinary Grand Line — a legendary stretch of sea where danger and wonder await at every turn. As they journey through this unpredictable realm in search of the world’s greatest treasure, they’ll encounter bizarre islands and a host of formidable new enemies.”

The second season is set to premiere in 2026, but the third season is already in motion. Production for season 3 will start later this year in Cape Town, South Africa. While Matt Owens and Joe Tracz worked together as co-showrunners, writers, and executive producers for season 2, season 3 will see Ian Stokes step into those roles alongside Tracz. Earlier this year, Owens shared that he would be stepping back from the series, saying, “to take a break and focus on myself and my mental health.”

The teaser also follows up on a moment from Netflix’s Tudum event earlier this year, when the streamer revealed Tony Tony Chopper for the first time. Mikaela Hoover voices the fan-favorite reindeer-boy hybrid. She explained what drew her to the role: “What excited me about playing Chopper is the tug of war between his standoffishness and his huge heart. He tries so hard to hide his emotions and put on a tough exterior, but underneath, he’s a big softy, and his love can’t help but come out.”

Between the new faces, the return of beloved characters, and the early renewal news, One Piece fans have plenty to look forward to. With the Grand Line ahead and filming for the third season starting even before season 2 airs, it’s clear Netflix is betting big on the Straw Hats’ next adventures.
