The long-awaited live-action Street Fighter movie is still moving forward, even though it was recently delayed without a new release date. Legendary Entertainment picked up the rights to the franchise last year, and Sony Pictures will handle distribution. The movie is now set to be directed by Kitao Sakurai after several changes behind the scenes.

One of the biggest pieces of news for fans is the first peek at Cody Rhodes as Guile in the live-action Street Fighter movie. Rhodes, who is currently WWE’s Undisputed Champion, joins a cast filled with surprising names.

Andrew Koji will play Ryu, Noah Centineo is Ken, Jason Momoa is Blanka, Callina Liang is Chun-Li, and David Dastmalchian is taking on the role of M. Bison. Roman Reigns has been cast as Akuma, while comedian Andrew Schulz will show up as Dan Hibiki, described as a wannabe martial artist. The lineup also includes 50 Cent as Balrog, Orville Peck as Vega, Hirooki Goto as E. Honda, and Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim.

Production is set to start on September 2, which has some fans worried. Rhodes will be filming while still carrying the WWE title, and his schedule is not clear yet. Reports say that Roman Reigns will take some time off from wrestling to shoot the film, but Cody’s situation hasn’t been explained. Reigns is confirmed for WWE Clash in Paris on August 31, just days before cameras roll. Both men were also missing from recent episodes of RAW and SmackDown, which added to the speculation.

For Rhodes, this isn’t his only Hollywood project. He also appeared in the Naked Gun reboot. Speaking on the “SI Media” podcast, he shared his excitement about working with Liam Neeson. “Getting to share the screen with him was surreal. I learned a lot just by watching how he carries himself,” Rhodes said.

Street Fighter was originally supposed to release on March 20, 2026, but the film was taken off the calendar earlier this year and is now delayed indefinitely. Fans are still eager to see how this star-studded cast will bring the classic Capcom fighting game to life on the big screen.
