HBO’s ‘Harry Potter’ Series Reveals First Look at the Weasley Kids
HBO is getting the Weasley family ready for its new Harry Potter series, and fans are finally getting a first look at the kids.
The network announced on Tuesday that Tristan Harland will play Fred Weasley, Gabriel Harland will play George, Ruari Spooner will be Percy, and Gracie Cochrane will take on the role of Ginny. They join Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley and Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, the family matriarch.
HBO shared a fun Instagram selfie showing Stout with a few of his on-screen siblings. The post also hinted at another addition: “Charlie’s in Romania at the moment but will be joining us soon enough…” Fans are still waiting to hear who will play eldest Weasley Bill, and patriarch Arthur Weasley hasn’t been cast yet either.
The series is based on J.K. Rowling’s beloved book series and is produced by HBO Entertainment, Warner Bros. Television, Brontë Film & TV, and Heyday Films. Dominic McLaughlin stars as Harry Potter, with Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger. Supporting roles include John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Paapa Essiedu, and Nick Frost.
Filming for the series started on July 14, 2025, under the working title Dark Train at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in Hertfordshire, the same place where the original Harry Potter films were made. Adriano Goldman is the cinematographer. HBO even built a temporary school on set for the child actors, which can hold up to 600 students.
Earlier in May 2025, set construction was already underway. The crew spent over a week filming at the Île de Sein in Brittany, France, around the Tévennec Lighthouse. The first production photo, showing McLaughlin in character alongside Nick Frost, was released on July 14. Later that month, filming was spotted at the London Zoo, and in August, shooting took place on Borough High Street in Southwark, London, with McLaughlin and Frost present.
HBO plans to continue filming the first season until mid-2026. Production on the second season is expected to start a few months after the first wraps up.
