First Glimpse of the Weasley Family on Set of HBO’s Harry Potter Series Has Been Revealed
Fans finally got their first real look at the Weasley family on the set of HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series, which recently took over London’s King’s Cross Station. Eleven-year-old Alastair Stout has stepped into the role of Ron Weasley, originally played by Rupert Grint.
Stout was spotted filming the iconic Platform 9 ¾ scenes, wearing a plaid overshirt, corduroy bell bottoms, and a thick duffel coat, a faithful nod to the 1990s style, since the series is set in 1991.

Stout was joined by his onscreen siblings: Fred and George Weasley, played by Tristan and Gabriel Harland, and Ginny Weasley, played by Gracie Cochrane. Percy Weasley, portrayed by Ruari Spooner, wasn’t spotted during these initial scenes.
The biggest debut of the day, however, was Katherine Parkinson, taking over from Julie Walters as the Weasley matriarch, Molly. Parkinson was seen corralling her “unruly” children while wearing a suede jacket with shoulder pads, a long skirt, and retro earrings.
One of the most charming details in the photos is the Weasley family’s patchwork wardrobe. The mismatched colors and quirky clothing choices really capture the chaotic, loving, and slightly disorganized nature of the family.
Recently, HBO announced more of the Weasley cast for the series. Tristan Harland will play Fred, Gabriel Harland is George, Ruari Spooner is Percy, and Gracie Cochrane is Ginny. They join Alastair Stout as Ron and Katherine Parkinson as Molly.
HBO even shared an Instagram selfie of Stout with some of his onscreen siblings, teasing that Charlie Weasley is on the way. “Charlie’s in Romania at the moment but will be joining us soon enough…” the post read.
So far, the eldest Weasley, Bill, and the father Arthur have not yet been cast. Bill was played by Domhnall Gleeson and Arthur by Mark Williams in the films.
The new series is being developed by HBO and is based on J.K. Rowling’s beloved books. Dominic McLaughlin stars as Harry Potter, and Arabella Stanton plays Hermione Granger. Supporting roles include John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Paapa Essiedu, and Nick Frost.
Filming began on July 14, 2025, under the working title Dark Train at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in Hertfordshire, the same location used for the original films. Cinematographer Adriano Goldman is leading the production, and a temporary school has been built on set to teach up to 600 child actors.
Before that, in May 2025, the crew began building sets and spent a week filming near the Tévennec Lighthouse in Brittany. The first official production photo, released on July 14, showed McLaughlin in character alongside Nick Frost. Additional filming took place at London Zoo on July 17 and Borough High Street on August 18.
The first season is expected to wrap filming by mid-2026, with work on the second season starting a few months later.
