Set in an alternate present where a state Children’s Center raises all citizens, ‘Motherland’ follows a rule enforcer who uncovers a hidden truth about a young woman in her care and begins to defy the system. The film is directed by Evan Matthews and written by Nicole Swinford, with a cast led by Miriam Silverman, Holland Taylor, Néstor Carbonell, and Emily Arancio.

‘Motherland’ opens September 12 in North America in select theaters alongside a same day digital release. The film runs 1 hour 39 minutes, is produced by MPI Original Films, and is distributed by Vertical. It premiered at festivals earlier this year and has continued rolling out with additional fall bookings.

Set at Godolkin University from the world of ‘The Boys,’ ‘Gen V’ returns with new leadership on campus and a curriculum aimed at turning students into stronger supes, while Marie, Jordan, and Emma dig into a secret program tied to the school’s origins. Season 2 features Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, and Sean Patrick Thomas, with Hamish Linklater joining as Dean Cipher and appearances from franchise characters such as Starlight.

‘Gen V’ premieres September 17 on Prime Video. The season has eight episodes, launching with three on day one and continuing weekly on Wednesdays through October 22 in more than 240 countries and territories. The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television.

‘Another End’ is set in a near future where a service can place the memories and consciousness of someone who has died into a living host for limited sessions, giving the bereaved one last chance to say goodbye. The film is written and directed by Piero Messina and stars Gael García Bernal, Renate Reinsve, Bérénice Bejo, and Olivia Williams.

‘Another End’ opens September 19 in the United States with a limited theatrical release and a same day digital option. The film runs about 2 hours 9 minutes and is presented in English. It premiered in competition at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2024 and is released domestically by Sunrise Films with backing from European partners including Indigo Film and Rai Cinema.

‘Xeno’ follows a teenage girl who befriends an alien after a crash in the desert and must protect her new companion while uncovering the truth around the encounter. The feature is written and directed by Matthew Loren Oates and stars Lulu Wilson, Omari Hardwick, Paul Schneider, Wrenn Schmidt, and Trae Romano.

‘Xeno’ is scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release on September 19. The film runs 1 hour 43 minutes and is rated PG-13. It is produced by Hartbeat Productions and distributed by Blue Fox Entertainment, with the alien creature crafted by the Henson Company and music by Ryan Taubert.

Based on Haro Aso’s manga, ‘Alice in Borderland’ returns to its deadly game world with Arisu and Usagi facing new trials that build on the card motif introduced so far. Season 3 continues the story after the events of the previous season and features returning cast led by Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya, along with new players and game masters tied to the next stage.

‘Alice in Borderland’ streams globally on Netflix starting September 25. The season arrives worldwide on the same day and continues the series’ mix of survival games and mystery inside an alternate Tokyo, with Netflix handling production and distribution.

Mamoru Hosoda’s breakout feature ‘The Girl Who Leapt Through Time’ returns in a new 4K restoration that brings the time hopping story of Makoto Konno back to theaters. The remaster is handled by GKIDS as part of a broader celebration of Hosoda’s films and presents the movie with updated picture and audio for the big screen.

The 4K remaster screens in theaters for special engagement dates beginning September 28, with limited showings across multiple days. GKIDS is also releasing new home video editions earlier in the month, and theatrical listings will note subtitled and dubbed screenings where available.
