Lionsgate is taking movie screenings to a whole new level with its upcoming film The Long Walk. For a special event, theatergoers will need to walk on a treadmill at a speed faster than three miles per hour for the entire duration of the movie.

If someone slows down or stops, they will be asked to leave and will not be allowed to watch the rest of the film.

The Long Walk is a dystopian horror thriller directed by Francis Lawrence and co-produced by him as well.

The screenplay is written by JT Mollner and is based on Stephen King’s 1979 novel, originally published under his pseudonym Richard Bachman. The movie features a cast that includes Cooper Hoffman, David Jonsson, Garrett Wareing, Tut Nyuot, Charlie Plummer, Ben Wang, Roman Griffin Davis, Jordan Gonzalez, Josh Hamilton, Judy Greer, and Mark Hamill, among others.

The story is set in a dystopian United States controlled by a totalitarian government. Each year, a group of young men must participate in a walking contest where they are required to maintain a speed of at least three miles per hour. The contest continues until only one walker remains alive, making the stakes deadly high.

Cooper Hoffman plays the main character, Raymond Garraty, while David Jonsson portrays Peter McVries.

Other notable characters include Stebbins, played by Garrett Wareing, Arthur Baker, played by Tut Nyuot, and Gary Barkovitch, played by Charlie Plummer. The film features a large ensemble of actors portraying the other contestants, creating an intense and high-pressure environment for the story.

Lionsgate has set The Long Walk for a United States release on September 12, 2025. The treadmill screening is a unique way for fans to experience the tension and endurance challenges faced by the characters in the film, making it feel almost like a part of the story itself.

With Francis Lawrence at the helm and a strong cast leading the way, The Long Walk is already generating excitement. The treadmill screening adds an unusual twist that blends fitness with cinema, offering fans a one-of-a-kind moviegoing experience.
