“The Conjuring” is coming to TV. HBO Max is currently developing a series based on the hit horror movie franchise, and it has just taken a big step forward.

Variety reports that Nancy Won has joined the project as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. Peter Cameron and Cameron Squires are also on board to write for the show. HBO Max did not comment on the news.

The series was first reported to be in development in 2023. While the plot is being kept secret, it will continue the story from the movies.

Peter Safran will serve as executive producer, and James Wan’s Atomic Monster is producing. Warner Bros. Television is the studio behind the project.

This announcement comes just days after “The Conjuring: Last Rites” hit theaters. The fourth film in the series has been a huge success, earning over $194 million worldwide so far.

Nancy Won has a strong background in TV writing. She has worked on shows like Sunny for Apple TV+, Tiny Beautiful Things and Little Fires Everywhere for Hulu, and the Marvel series Jessica Jones on Netflix. She also wrote for Jericho and Supernatural among other projects.

Peter Cameron and Cameron Squires have both worked on several Marvel projects. Cameron wrote for the special Werewolf by Night and shows like Agatha All Along, Moon Knight, and WandaVision. Squires also wrote for Agatha All Along and WandaVision, as well as Agent Elvis, the Star Wars series The Acolyte, and Season 2 of Gen V.

According to Matthew Belloni of Puck News, the studio is also looking at a possible prequel following the huge box office numbers. As Belloni put it, “Given the box office numbers, of course they are.”
