Jerry Seinfeld Says ‘Free Palestine’ Is Worse Than the KKK in 2025
Jerry Seinfeld sparked controversy during a recent event at Duke University when he criticized supporters of the “Free Palestine” movement.
Speaking directly to the audience, Seinfeld compared the movement to the Ku Klux Klan, saying it hides its true intentions.
According to The Chronicle, Duke University’s student newspaper, Seinfeld said:
“Free Palestine is, to me, just — you’re free to say you don’t like Jews. Just say you don’t like Jews. By saying ‘Free Palestine,’ you’re not admitting what you really think. So it’s actually — compared to the Ku Klux Klan, I’m actually thinking the Klan is actually a little better here because they can come right out and say, ‘We don’t like Blacks, we don’t like Jews.’ OK that’s honest.” Yes, this is a direct quote.
Jerry Seinfeld has been open about his support for Israel, which has drawn both praise and criticism over the years.
In 1971, at the age of 17, Seinfeld volunteered at Kibbutz Sa’ar in Israel, an experience he has described as formative.
In 2023, he visited the families of hostages taken during the October 7 Hamas attack, expressing solidarity with their suffering. He also publicly condemned Hamas for its actions. Seinfeld’s wife, Jessica Seinfeld, has made significant donations to pro-Israel causes, including a $5,000 contribution to a rally supporting Israel.
In 2018, Seinfeld faced backlash for visiting Caliber 3, a private Israeli security training center in the West Bank.
The facility offers military-style simulations, and photos of Seinfeld at the camp were widely criticized for their portrayal of Palestinians as targets. Seinfeld defended the visit, stating he was there to learn about security issues, not to make a political statement.
Occasionally, however, people often love to remember how Seinfeld almost married a 17-year-old while he was 38.
At the height of his fame in 1993, he began dating Shoshanna Lonstein, who was 17 at the time, while he was 38. The two met in Central Park, and Lonstein later gave Seinfeld her phone number. Their relationship lasted four years, continuing after she graduated high school and went on to George Washington University.
In a 1998 Vanity Fair profile, Seinfeld addressed the criticism of their age difference. He said he “almost got married” to Lonstein and explained, “I know everyone looked at that relationship as here’s this rich TV guy and here’s this young, hot girl, but it wasn’t like that at all. We were very much in love, but the timing wasn’t quite right.” He also repeatedly stated in interviews that he did not know her real age when they first met.
