Born in London on April 28, 1944, Summers began his career in 1963 when he traveled to Tucson, Arizona, to work as a stunt extra in the film McLintock!.
Over the years, he became a sought-after stunt double, working for actors like Warren Oates, Roddy McDowall, Michael Anderson Jr., and Michael J. Pollard.
Summers also built a strong acting resume. He appeared in numerous television series including Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Barnaby Jones, Death Valley Days, The High Chaparral, The Fall Guy, Petrocelli, and Daniel Boone. His film career was equally impressive, with credits in Duel at Diablo, Heaven with a Gun, El Dorado, True Grit, The Greatest Story Ever Told, Rio Lobo, RoboCop, Wild at Heart, Rough Night in Jericho, The Shawshank Redemption, and Guns of a Stranger.
