‘She-Hulk’ Star Tatiana Maslany Urges Fans to Cancel Disney+ Amid Kimmel Controversy

Just a day after ABC suspended Jimmy Kimmel Live! indefinitely, celebrities and industry members are speaking out and calling for a boycott of Disney.

Among them is Tatiana Maslany, who urged her fans on Instagram to cancel their Disney+ subscriptions. She shared a behind-the-scenes photo of herself filming She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, a Disney+ series she starred in back in 2022.

The suspension has drawn criticism from across the entertainment industry. Writer Damon Lindelof said he was “shocked, saddened and infuriated by yesterday’s suspension and look forward to it being lifted soon.”

Actress Amy Landecker, known for Transparent, also posted evidence online showing she had canceled her Disney+ subscription early Thursday morning.

ABC’s decision to suspend Kimmel’s show comes after controversial comments he made about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on September 10.

In his Monday monologue, Kimmel said: “We had some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and with everything they can to score political points from it.”

The suspension followed pressure from the Federal Communications Commission. FCC Chair Brendan Carr told a podcast audience that local broadcasters should preempt the show and urged Disney to reprimand Kimmel for what he called “some of the sickest conduct possible.”

The situation has been building for months. Former President Donald Trump warned in July that Kimmel would be “next to go” after CBS canceled The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, which aired for 33 seasons.

Hundreds of members of the Writers Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild have protested the suspension, showing that the controversy has struck a chord across Hollywood.
