Tom Holland Rushed to Hospital After ‘Spider-Man 4’ Stunt Mishap
Tom Holland was rushed to the hospital last Friday after a stunt went wrong on the set of the new Spider-Man film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Reports say the 29-year-old actor fell during a stunt and hit his head, suffering a mild concussion on September 19.
A woman, believed to be a stunt double, was also reportedly taken to the hospital. The East of England Ambulance Service confirmed to The Sun that they were called to Leavesden Studios in Watford at 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
“An ambulance was sent to the scene, and the patient was transported to hospital for further care,” the spokesperson said, according to Mirror US.
Holland’s father, Dominic, also spoke about the incident while attending a charity dinner. He said that Tom would be taking a break from filming for a while.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the next installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the fourth Spider-Man film starring Holland.
The movie is being co-produced by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios and will be distributed by Sony Pictures. It is set to release in the United States on July 31, 2026, as part of Phase Six of the MCU.
The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, with a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Alongside Holland, the cast includes Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Mando, and Tramell Tillman.
Filming for the movie began on August 3 in Glasgow, Scotland, under the working title Blue Oasis. Principal photography is taking place on location in Glasgow, as well as at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England. The Jackie Chan Stunt Team is coordinating fight scenes, returning from their work on Shang-Chi.
Holland was excited to start filming on location, returning to the style of shooting that fans saw in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Set photos from Glasgow showed armored vehicles with red demon logos, which some outlets like Total Film have speculated could reference the comics villain Mister Negative. Other locations, including Brookwood Cemetery in Surrey, England, were used in early August for filming.
While the accident will delay parts of production, filming is expected to continue in Basingstoke, England, later in September and early October. Holland’s mild concussion means he will miss a few days of shooting, but sources say he is expected to recover fully.
Stunt accidents are always a reminder of how dangerous these action films can be, even for experienced actors like Tom Holland. Fans will want him to take the time he needs to rest and heal before returning to the set.
