Netflix is dropping another dark true-crime documentary soon, and this one is bound to shake people. The film is called My Father, the BTK Killer, and it tells the story of Dennis Rader, also known as the BTK Killer, through the eyes of his daughter, Kerri Rawson.

Rader, whose crimes made headlines for decades, lived a double life as both a family man and a brutal murderer. His daughter Kerri had to face the awful truth that the man she loved as her dad was also one of the most infamous killers in American history.

The new Netflix series follows her journey as she struggles with this shocking reality.

The streaming service has already released a trailer. In it, viewers see flashes of Rader’s arrest along with emotional moments from Kerri’s story. It’s a glimpse of the pain and confusion she felt after learning the truth.

The project is directed by Skye Borgman, who has worked on other big Netflix true-crime hits like American Murder: The Family Next Door. With Borgman’s style, the documentary is expected to be both emotional and packed with details about how Rader was finally caught.

For those unfamiliar, Dennis Rader terrorized Wichita and Park City, Kansas, between 1974 and 1991. He became known as the BTK Killer, a name he gave himself, which stands for bind, torture, kill. He often broke into women’s homes, tied them up, and killed them, sometimes keeping personal items as souvenirs.

After 1979, Rader went silent, leaving investigators with one of the coldest cases in the country. Then, in 2004, he started sending letters again. This mistake helped police track him down, and in 2005 he was arrested. He later pled guilty to ten murders and received ten life sentences. Today, he is serving time at the El Dorado Correctional Facility.

Netflix says My Father, the BTK Killer will not only explore Rader’s crimes but also the toll it took on his family, especially his daughter. The show will be released on October 10, only on Netflix.

So, what do you think? Would you watch a story told from the viewpoint of a killer’s daughter?
